Chemist shop hair dye?

Hello,
I have highlights done at the hairdressers usually. They don't use "bleach" just "tint", so they tell me. I have mousey/nondescript colour hair with two types of blonde highlights. I have a wedding next week and don't have time to go to the hairdressers. My roots are coming through and the colour has faded. I tried using that blonde hair purple brightening shampoo, but it's not helped.
Would it ruin my hair colour if I put a shop bought blonde on my hair? One of the ones with "no ammonia or peroxide" has anyone tried this and did it work out ok?
Thanks!

It won't lighten your roots. Might warm your colour up a bit. You need bleach to lighten hair, wouldn't really reccomend doing that yourself...

Yes, I would, casting or one like that would lift the colour and add shine. Go lighter than you think you need though!
