Mother and daughter makeover and photo shoot

I'm at a loss what to get my mum for Christmas and I've seen this on the Virgin experience days website.

Has anyone done this? It says you get a full makeover, plus outfit changes and a free a4 photo.

I'd really appreciate any feedback as its a bit of a shot in the dark, and I've got visions of some pervy old guy in some dodgy flat

If it's done properly it could be a really fun day out...

So any reviews welcome, thanks in advance!

I'd be careful. I 'won' one of these once. The 'makeover' was very rushed, the session was too, and whilst I did get a free photo the hard sell to buy an album was very hard indeed!

That's what I'm afraid of.

It wasn't at all pervy though! It was company in a nice, airy building just off Oxford Street.

I just don't want it to be disappointing. We don't get to spend much time together so I want it to be special.

'Special' is not a word I'd use to describe it TBH. It was quite the factory- make up artists churning women out in the shortest possible time, photographers working to their set and not to be deviated from list of poses. And then the hard sell at the end.

Why not see if there is a portrait photographer in your area who would do a session with you? If you are near North London I can recommend Hayley Lehmann

We used her to do photos when DD turned 1. They were beautiful and we treasure them.

This is an actual thing for grown up mums and daughters?

I did it once with a friend. It was fun but the hard sale was incredible. We stood our ground and utterly refused to take anything, but our free picture. We had foreseen that it would be like that, so we purposely didn't touch any of the alcoholic drinks, just to make sure we kept our clear mind. I would not do it again

How about a spa day instead?

I've done spa days to death Jelly, and got her a colour me beautiful consultation for her birthday.

I'm out of ideas!

Theatre and cocktails/dinner? A friend bought me and her a photoshoot once, it was a bit naff tbh and the resulting photos were totally grim!

How about a spa day/weekend?

How about an experience day? Like glass blowing or pottery making?

I was looking at the experience days. Maybe something like pottery might work, thanks for that.

She does like golf. Maybe a golf lesson?

God I should have started this in September!

A golf lesson somewhere posh with a nice meal for you both would be nice. My partner took me glass blowing and it was an amazing day and it's lovely having the pieces in our home to remind us x
