Facial peels/micro-dermabrasion etc: advice for beginner please

I'm thinking of getting some kind of treatment predominantly for my forehead which has a few tiny milia and is starting to look lined.

I've never done anything like this before and don't really know much about the different types of treatment. I've read stuff about different kinds of peels and micro dermabrasion - but frankly I'm none the wiser.

Cost isn't an issue. I just want something that will improve the text/quality of skin on my forehead.

What would you suggest? What are the best types of treatment to have?

Also I live in London so if anyone has any recommendations for particular places/ therapists that would be most appreciated.

I've had micro derm facials loads, they are great for resurfacing your skin. You don't get any redness or peeling after which I think you might get with a facial peel.
If you have milia it may help although I'd maybe get a targeted facial for that issue first then try a micro derm.

I haven't tried a peel yet as I haven't found anywhere me that I want to go to try it.

Easiest way with advanced electrolysis. Could take several microdermabrasion or peels to treat milia.

What does advanced electrolysis do suzib?

Is there no one here who has had both a peel and microdermabrasion? I'm really more interested in the line reducing/skin freshening effects than the milia.

I've never had microdermabrasion. I have had a peel at my spa/salon (Destination Skin). I guess it was OK. It's not the sort of acid peel that causes the skin to crust up and peel off (this is effective against some severe problems but not something you do just to freshen up general texture.) I think it was over three visits and it got stronger each time. It wasn't anything miraculous and I haven't bothered doing it again.

What I do is use the Boots No. 7 version of the Clarisonic at night and apply a serum with glycolic acid in it (Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing I think it's called.) My skin is noticeably smoother and the milia I had on my cheeks is almost all nearly gone. I assume that this is a longer, slower version of microdermabrasion and acid peel.

I would say that perhaps getting a microdermabrasian to start and then using a routine similar to what I do (exfoliating brush or cloth at night followed by a serum containing glycolic acid) will give you good results - check Paula Beguin's site to read reviews in order to be sure the product contains enough to be effective.

Hi All,
I had a chemical peel (fruit acid) at Skn clinics. Sadly I had a really bad reaction and ended up with terrible teenage type skin with constant breakouts. This may not be these case with everyone and I did have a small patch test but ended up reacting. Might be worth asking for a couple of patch tests on larger areas before you go ahead and go with a reputable company. Skn offered me a full refund.
