How do you wear skinny jeans with ankle boots? Tucked in? Rolled up? With thick chunky socks poking out of the top?

I just don't know! Help me...!

I wear mine with jeggings so they are stretchy and I can put them over them top. Works for me.

Nabootique · 19/11/2014 14:00

I tuck mine in to my boots, but as they're too long and go under my foot, which is uncomfortable, I do a turn up in the jeans which is covered by the boot. I do think it makes my calves look a bit chunkier though, because you can see where the boots stop.

TheHappinessTrap · 19/11/2014 14:28

I doubt think the tucked in look works with my leg shape. I tallish with a medium build. I wear with skinny jeans or cords and leave the fabric to scrunch up at the top of the boot.

I worked drainpipe and ankle boot look to death when I was 10/11, I'm not going back there.

You need to cuff the jeans. Tucked in can look awful and definitely don't pull the jeans over the top of the boots

I like this way!

Definitely not tucked in!

TinkerbellaPan · 19/11/2014 19:56

Cuff them.

Show some ankle.

This demostrates it well:

I would cuff mine. But it's winter and I don't live in LA. I want warm ankles.

CointreauVersial · 19/11/2014 21:21

Depending on the particular pair of jeans I either roll them a little, or let them "scrunch" on top of the boot.

Tucking in only works with certain styles of boots, certainly not with Chelsea boots or similar.

velourvoyageur · 19/11/2014 21:31

I cuff mine most of the time :)

WhereIsMyHat · 19/11/2014 22:25

I have seen lots of exposed socks on the trendies recently which would work with a turn up (when did they become cuffs?!?!)

skylerwhite1 · 19/11/2014 22:34

hi cuffers, do you have to be tall to cuff? Im small and feel cuffing would make me look dumpy.

Haroldplaystheharmonica · 19/11/2014 22:37

Great! Thanks all. Loving that article on cuffing turning up jeans Grin

I think biker boots are the only style that look good with skinnies tucked in really.

Those Mango ones are really nice bobkate

velourvoyageur · 20/11/2014 07:21

Exposed socks with cuffs are VERY hipster, when you can't see any skin at all. At least I only see male hipster studenty types trying that. I don't think it's really caught on otherwise. Hipster is kind of mainstream fringe (not in the way that it's not accessible, more that people don't choose it as a style!) so maybe just give it time. I see a lot of them get it wrong though (IMO)- not plain enough, clashing etc.

I don't think you have to be tall at all, have you tried it in a full length mirror? Then you get a good idea of proportions. The only thing is avoiding straying into the capri pants territory (apols if anyone wears those!).

I only started cuffing because my skinnies would have escaped from my Chelsea boots and just look really messy and I'd be forever checking them to tuck them in again. I have a little tattoo just above my ankle which I use to judge cuff length. Would recommend that as a cuff length gaging method ;)

TheHappinessTrap · 20/11/2014 09:46

I know this isn't what you meant Velour but I imagined a tattoo that literally has a line drawn to mark the perfect cuff length!

velourvoyageur · 20/11/2014 14:37

haha! I'm not that anal Grin
