Dress

I am slim but have really veiny legs so need opaques. Would this work?

The thing I've to go to is a networky business dinner with a black tie dress code.

I thought black tie meant long evening gown but I could be wrong, it's probably changed in definition over the years.

I think it probably still does but I really can't afford to spend on a dress I will wear once. I fear you are right though and will go back to the drawing board.

Yes, I'd say that would be perfect.

Black Tie doesn't mean long. A cocktail dress would do the job.

Twinklestein · 17/11/2014 22:20

You can wear cocktail length with black tie no problem. The dress will be fine.

Snap!

Phew! I can't find anything else that looks half decent.

I saw a photo of Beyonce wearing that exact dress.

Yes. Its lovely.

mrssmith79 · 17/11/2014 23:08

I'd say so. Smokey eyes and nude lips or a bold red lippy would look fab with it. Fwiw, floor length tends to be for white tie - black tie is either.

Nice dress.
Would work perfectly.
Go for it!

I bought this dress! It came up quite big - I bought a 16 which I though would probably come up too small and it was a bit big. It's not as sparkly as you might think, one side of the sequins is flocked so it's quite subtle. It's a lovely dress, really well made and lined, bargain for the price.

I would have worn it with opaques, black heels and red lippy.

ClearlyMoo · 18/11/2014 10:54

Yes definitely. Lots of ladies wear "cocktail" dresses to black tie these days.

That's great - very helpful advice, thanks.
