NARS lipsticks - any good? Any cheaper alternatives you could recommend?

I fancy going to the NARS counter and having a play with some of their lipsticks. In particular, I've got my eye on Schiap, Jungle Red and Red Lizard.

They cost about 20 though and I'm usually more of a Rimmel girl! So:

  • are they worth the money?
  • are they non-drying (v dry lips)?
  • are there any high street brands that you think are just as good?
  • do you have any other colours listed above and what do you think of them?

Thanks!

I have a burgundy red lipatick from Nars but much rather prefer MAC lippies. The Nars one I have is not as moisturising or creamy as the MAC ones, but if you really love the Nars colours and can't find similar ones in MAC then maybe buy to try first.

You could try for dupes on Temptalia

Wow Zachary, thanks for the link. Had never heard of Temptalia - it looks great!

I LOVE Nars lipsticks, the colours are fantastic and they're incredibly pigmented, rarely need touch-ups. As to how creamy/moisturizing they are, it really depends on the formulation - the sheers and satins are pretty moisturising, the more matte ones less so. Never found them actually drying, though. Unfortunately I don't have any of the colours listed, though do have about a billion of their reds.

Also agree that Temptalia is a fab website for reviews.
