Please help me find a trendy school rucksack

Dd insisted on getting a cheap fashion rucksack which cost £12 and has lasted 2 months - not great value for money!
I want her to get a good quality bag and she wants something trendy, which is fine but it needs to be big enough to carry all her books and comfortable enough to not dig into her shoulders, I don't think she'd consider anything that looked like she was set to hike up a mountain.

Hello, this thread is a little old now and some of the links are out of date. Take a look at this handy page for a round up of the best backpacks, chosen by Mumsnetters.

Watching with interest as DD is on her 2nd rucksack already, 1st one was a cheap one. The second was a paul franks one she bought herself and is already wearing on the seams.

Roxy rucksacks seem to be robust - DD's is going strong after more than a year.

my dcs have the rucksacks from American Apparel - they are all the rage at their school and seem to be lasting. They're similar to the eastpack ones that are really cool (at their school) but my dcs couldn't find the right colours in stock.

Most of the children at Ds school have mi-PAC rucksacks. They come in a huge variety of colours and patterns. I originally thought it was going to be too small but fits everything in ok, depends on how much she has to carry.

Eastpak or Herschel. I've had my Eastpak since 2007 and it's not showing any signs of wear or tear.

DD(15) has an Adidas rucksack and DS(13.5) has an Eastpak. Both are street-fashion conscious and sporty and have had the rucksacks for 18months and they show no signs of wear whatsoever.

DD had a Roxy backpack in Y7 and it is still fine (I use it if I need a backpack!)

Herschel here - purchased on-line from Urban Outfitters.

Can I just say how delighted I am that rucksacks are fashionable?Smile
