What is suitable? Got the church bit a 3pm, 4 cousre meal and dancing to follow from 6pm with some mooching in the middle )( or running atround after my 3 kids who will be in full bridesmaid / pageboy attire. Haven't had to wear a cocktail dress for yrs amnd need to get it right. Instructed that more glam, evening-y wear would be appropriate. Would you go strapless with a shrug on, or thin spaghetti straps, or skrit and top? I'm 36, dark bob and dark eyes. Apple shape - tummy not best feature and not great waist. Decent legs and bum. Size 12 on average, sometimes 10 top cos no boobs. Have up to £200 for shoes and outfit (I think). Gojng shoppingin London on Sat with sis and mum (which if any of you posting on SN site will know will be a welcome break!)Thanks!

Any ideas? I was going to visit Coast and LK Bennet, where else would you go.

Hobbs might be worth a look

Monsoon have some lovely things - this is gorgeous - what sort of colours do you like?

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 05/10/2006 18:13

And this is also lovely - top probably good for smaller norks, not too fitted over the tummy. Colour might be a bit sombre for a wedding, that's the only thing.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 05/10/2006 18:14

Lovely purple dress here too - in fact all the stuff at Monsoon is pretty good.

Principles have some good ones too - this looks lovely, but you'd have to try it on to see whether the gathers over the stomach area hid or highlighted your tummy. This is also lovely, as is this . Lots more on the site

Jackie, thanks - some good ideas - esp. like the 1st Monsoopn one. I like all sorts of colours, but do you think it would be ok to wear black to this wedding or not? I like autumny colours, I really like green, also saw a really nice grey dress in Coast. I'm fairly lucky with my colouring that I can wear most colours except camel type colours. Someone else told me Hbbs had nice stuf in too. Thsank guys.

Ooh, I'm an apple and I bought THIS from LK Bennett which was pricey but can be worn with black shoes and a black cardi/shrug. I wore it to a wedding a the weekend and felt like a gazillion dollars.

earthtomummy · 05/10/2006 19:07

margauxx, that's a lovely dress and a half! Might go and try that on. The skirt looks like it's swishy!
