My dark roots need doing anyway, so it's time for a change.

It's winter, I'm pale. I'm hoping I can pull it off without it aging me horribly.

Now, the worst case scenario I've considered is blue or purple hair ..... I can cope with that Confused

I've plucked my eye brows, do I look groomed. I've got bleach and I'm off to collect the the toner later.

Anything else I need to consider?

Do it, do it, do it!

Honestly the toner is fab.

It looks lovely!

I use the same bleach. I get Joico toning shampoo from Amazon to keep the colour. I found Touch of Silver etc too harsh.

Has anyone got any tips for what to do with the coconut oil? Do you warm it up and leave it on overnight? It's quite solid in the jar Confused

Just scoop out a small blob and rub it in your hands then through your hair. It liquifies with body heat.

Very nice!! If you don't mind me asking, what is you're natural hair colour?i'd love to go silver but have v.dark hair and not much grey so I'd probably end up baldShock

ouryve · 08/11/2014 20:58

That looks gorgeous, but maybe you need a name change, now :)

ouryve · 08/11/2014 20:59

For the colour, of course, not for anonymity.

Honeydragon · 08/11/2014 21:19

My natural colours dark brown

How often do you need to do your roots Honey?
I'm a mousy brown, currently badly highlighted, but I gave up on the all over white bleached look (though I loved it) as the upkeep was too much and I mostly looked like Lily Savage

MargotThreadbetter · 08/11/2014 22:16

Yours looks great btw!

Ohmygrood · 08/11/2014 23:09

Wow that's gorgeous!

PacificDogwood · 08/11/2014 23:14

You look gorgeous, great colour, but who are you and what have you done with brunette Honeydragon? Confused

Are you going to do Hully or a baby next?

Honeydragon · 08/11/2014 23:33

Pdog Grin

I like to change every so often. It stops trouble catching up with me Wink

If I wanted perfect hair than every three to four weeks at a push id do my roots.

But I do them every 5-6 weeks and have a selection of updo's that look good with regrowth, because I'm lazy.

Not going to bleach the baby, she has perfect dark blonde ringlets Envy ...... Clearly something to do with having immaced her, so I'll take credit for them.

Need to have a look at that toner you used. I have a pixie cut and have been bleaching and toning it for years but sometimes the results can be a bit hit and miss. I was using 40 vol peroxide for years ( I know, slap on the back of wrists) as it was the only thing that lifted my roots enough but as I let my hair grow just a fraction I noticed that it was definitely getting drier. My hairdresser convinced me to use 30 vol it would be a bit gentler but the results can be a bit hit and miss to be honest. Sometimes ginger roots, sometimes a nice even colour.

Oh, and for everyone rushing out to buy coconut oil, it is also supposed to be fab when you bleach over it. Apply it to clean dry hair, leave it on for at least an hour (ideally over night) and then apply the bleach as normal over it. Google coconut oil & bleaching. Loads of folk swear by it and it's supposed to really protect the hair against the bleach but not affect the colour. Will be trying it next time I do my roots.
