I am so toasty in my new North Face arctic parka

...having followed the waterproof and bumcovering thread every autumn since its inception I have finally accepted that my ancient waxed jacket has had it and splurged on a North Face arctic parka

which I got in impractical glamorous off white FOR £149 here

ordered yesterday and it arrived today.

My husband has the male version and it's a great coat.

What is the fabric like on the outside of the North Face one? It looks quite nice. I love the look of the Peter Storm one but I want a brown coat. Does something like it exist in brown? I love that it just looks like a nice, smart coat.

I have a beautiful wool coat, lovely shaped sleeves, brown, beautiful teal embroidery down the front. I bought it in Russia and it was brilliant but 1) it is very old now and 2) in Russia it was fab because it is properly cold there but here it tends to be wet and cold.

I have a very good walking style waterproof and I have a nice waxed jacket that is good for Autumn etc but I really need to replace my wool coat so want something waterproof as well as warm. But I still want a coat that is nicely fitted.

I think I've been spoiled by the beauty of my wool coat .

This coat was a real eye opener for me - I honestly did not know it was possible to be so warm and dry in bad weather. For anyone who is still shivering away, and can afford the coat, this is the real deal!
