Wearing men's jumpers

I'm thinking of buying a jumper from the men's section, I find many women's are too short in the body.

I like a relaxed fit but wondered if it might look a bit silly.

What do you think?

Not at all. If you like it, but it!

Slouchy oversized jumpers are very chic. I occasionally wear mens knits too and they are great for those of us "blessed" with a longer body Hmm. I absolutely detest tight or slightly to short knits.

The other thing I do is size up in the womenswear section too. I am an 8-10 but will regularly buy a 14 or Large to get the look I want. Ignore the sizing label seems to be the way to go!

In fact, I have just bought this from TK Maxx in a size Large. Ignore the mannequin photo - it looks like a shapeless blob! It is boxy with zips that run the length of the side seams and sits at hip height on me. Looks great with skinny jeans or (or leather leggings - my favourite) and a vest or long sleeve tee layered beneath. And it is all wool (holy grail of knitwear IMO - cannot abide acrylic).

I much prefer men's jumpers, the extra length in the body and sleeves make them look more expensive and luxurious somehow. Uniqlo men's cashmere is a particular favourite.

I am 5ft 8 and find the lenght in the sleeves and body a much better fit.

I'm 5'4", size 8-10 & and have a Uniqlo men's sweatshirt size XS, and a Zara boy's sweatshirt, and jumper both aged 12. They fit fine. I love them all and they are better quality & cheaper than women's. More interesting colours too. I wear boys' shirts too - they fit me better than women's.

I'm 5ft 8 quite a short body but like to cover the stomach! Should I go for a crew neck or v neck?

I know they're higher on mens jumpers. Thanks for your help!

I started doing this last year! I started by going to TKMAXX and bought 5 good quality sweaters for £100. I love it. I team them with smart fitting trousers and cute shoes or good skirts and accessories at work, at home I just wear them with jeans. I like that they have high necks, even the v necks. I'm 5'7" and I find women's jumpers are too fitted and short in the body and sleeve.

DorothyGherkins · 05/11/2014 14:20

As a long limbed female, I have been wearing mens jumpers, cardis and jeans for decades. Much longer in the sleeve/leg and I always think they are much better quality than ladies wear.

I got a couple of Woolovers that are suitable for M/F
They do have a note saying they are generous fit but as I have unfeasibly long arms and no waist, the shape is good for me
