I want something not too heavy as I am on public transport a lot and will roast

Maybe a long macish thing with removable lining but NOT fogeyish

Anyone got any suggestions

Do you have a Gap or Topshop you can peruse? I would rather go to a shop then buy online myself, you can feel the material etc

under search by, go to coats and there is a puff sleeve mac for £175 - TS for that much!! But it is nice.

also, you say you don't like belts and neither do I so I fasten them at the back so I do not resemble a sack of spuds

Saw a Mac in Uniqlo today

has a removable lining and they had it in lots of quite nice colours - only thing I didn't like is that it had those silly things (forgotten the name - you know like little belts) on the shoulders (my shoulders are broad enough without needing anything to make them look any bigger). No waist belt either so fits your criteria there.
