Everyone else apart from me seems to have a sensible 'watch your child play sports' coat. I'm jealous and want one too. Is it doable with a budget if £100?

How waterproof does it need to be?

Yes, its doable, especially if your prepared to have last years colors/styles.

What about a Merrell Haven?

Spurtle · 02/11/2014 20:46

The Merrel Haven looks lovely - not too bulky I think? Last seasons colours and styles are fine with me

Check out TK Maxx

Merrell Ellenwood is about £120 online, good reviews if you like the style

How about the Lands End Stadium Squall coat? Not the most attractive of beasts, but you'll be warm and dry, and theres room for layering. They have them in the sale section, and theres 25% off atm, so down to £75.

I have a Merrel Haven, but find it very tight in the sleeves, and quite stiff.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 02/11/2014 21:03

Lands end insulated squall. Not the most fashion forward but plain colours no branding and waterproof. They usually have them in the sale section or a good discount code.

I can't imagine you'd get a north face for £100 unless second hand on eBay. Mine was almost £200 and
I prefer the lands end for watching the dc play sport.

What about this

Murinea · 03/11/2014 17:02

How about the Seasalt Janelle coat, if you can stretch the budget a bit? It's £140 normally, but just yesterday I amazon alerted me to the fact that they have some colour and size combinations reduced to 125ish. Too bad I already have mine. :P It's super comfy and warm.

Ooh, lots of nice choices. Thanks. I need to get to the shops and try some on. As well as being warm and waterproof I also need to not look like the Michelin Man.

Agree, Lands End. I tested the insulated squall parka on the sidelines in blizzards last year. I like that it came in petite. They are totally waterproof and really well designed so they do up around the wrists, the hood covers your head properly and stays up, etc. In fact my only gripe is the dull grey fleece lining that shows at the neck, you need a good scarf to cover it up!
