What is the ultimate daytime tote? What do you use in the daytime?

After years of lugging a beautiful black Marc Jacobs around, I fancy a change.

Hope you can give me inspiration with your bags, or find me a steal in the way only MN can!

I am looking for a tote, large enough to squash my 13" Macbook and a pair of shoes into, for everyday use. Catch is, I don't want black or brown or a neutral colour. I want a statement.

Fave colour for clothes at the minute is oxblood. Open to anything though. Like gold hardware, but again, not a must.

Up to £600. HELP ME PLEASE!

Way below your price bracket but there is a longchamp les pilages tote on the apple site that would probably do the job and is chic.

Not to my taste at all I'm afraid - I've seen teenagers use those as school bags!

May I ask - what are the straps on your bags like? Do they have thin straps and how do these cope with weight/being squashed on a tube/everyday life?

I'd hate to shell out for something that isn't very sturdy.

Cole Haan makes some lovely bags. I've had a large tote with woven handles for years and have abused it badly. Still looks great!

I love the look of Milli Millu bags

Tory burch have lovely totes at the moment too - though the labels are a bit obvious for some
