Hi Iota (sorry I haven't mailed you yet)

I went to a wedding reception in Henley, got plastered and after heavy rain kept sinking, by the end of the eavning was stumbling around like a fool trying not to vomit (am mortified) but the killer for the shoes was..

taxi dropped us at hotel, set in large grounds, you had to drive through a field of cows obviously there was a cattle grid at either side of the field so... taxi drives into cow field but the barrier is down at the other end, taxi has to drop us in the cows field - cows of course are all gathered right where we want to go (I'm virtually paraletic). DP strolls across cattle grid - with me mummbling about not being able to get over a cattle grid in 4" stilletos sober let alone practically unconcious, cue, me spotting the little path round.. to get to the path I have to walk a short distance through the field but I figuere (at the time) that would be better than a brken ankle.. so the cows leg it and I stumble to the gate (now imagine terrential rain on a field that has then had a herd of cows standing in it...) I squelched to the gate.. got to the hotel room, looked at my shoes - sobbed that they were ruined and then passed out.

got up in the morning feeling dreadfully, looked at them - was too hung over and upset to assess damage fully just registered that they looked awful. put them back in their box and haven't had the guts to open it since.

oh dear - sounds irretrievable

Can you wait for the mud to dry then brush them? Then if they're leather wipe with damp cloth. I think with suede you can rub them with a piece of bread to get marks off.

They may not be as bad as you think.

FluffyOHaraOfSnugglesville · 02/10/2006 14:05

They have a big grass/cow pat tide mark up one side.. I think they are trashed. might try a dry cleaners as they are ruined anyway..

they are like a pale blue satin type material so not very helpful.

Must be the season for it.....I have a lovely Karen Millen top (crochet) very flattering, tried, tested and trusted, makes me look skinny when I'm not.......

I washed in on the handwash cycle of my machine and now its gone all loose and baggy.

Wana start shopping in Tesco, with me?

FluffyOHaraOfSnugglesville · 02/10/2006 14:07

Take them to the dry cleaners and get them to redye them once they've been cleaned.

FluffyOHaraOfSnugglesville · 02/10/2006 14:22

I have sort of decided that I will take them to the dry cleaners and ask them to clean them - see what happens.. I have the matching back which is the same material and I think says dry clean.

They are ruined anyway so whats the harm in wasting a tenner - you never know they might look OK. I am so angry with myself!
