If I started wearing hats a la Mad Men would I look weird?

I am immersed in Mad Men, watching all the way from the beginning and currently on season 5

And I really want a hat - I have worn hats (to weddings) and berets in the 80's but I quite fancy a nice hat maybe with a bit of net.

Now I wear dresses most days rather than jeans so I wouldn't look entirely daft

What do you think?

It probably depends where you live.

I live in a very er... alternative city and I don't think a hat like that would cause even the slightest raised eyebrow.

It isn't uncommon to see people in full 50's gear on a daily basis.

I would think you were a bit eccentric if I saw you wearing that in the supermarket.

I don't think you would look weird, but it depends on how bothered you are about other peoples opinions on your appearance.

If worn with jeans and uggs etc, would look very odd.

But worn with a an appropriate dress, shoes, coat, bag etc, with a touch of make up, would look really nice. The trick is to make the style your own, and not to look as though you are on your way to a vintage event. So take elements as an inspiration.

I bought a cloche hat from M&S last year in the sale and I can't wait to wear it!

Hats are good. Wore a bowler hat a lot last year and about to dig it out again. Might get another colour this year.
