I'm after some footwear of some description to wear for a 3 night break to Rome in December, so I'm thinking boots? but they need to be super comfy as I'm expecting to walk alot!
I'm 5'4" and a size 16 with thick calves so think knee high boots might be better as i could wear them with leggings and a dress, or jeans- I'm only saying that as I don't think flat ankle boots do me any favours with a dress! any brands you would recommend as being particularly comfy or suitable please? I've got a budget of around £50. thank you!

Have M&S got anything? Theirs are usually quite comfortable.

You might struggle to find leather and knee length at less than £50 though.

decent pair of walking shoes (not boots) should come in at under that in Mountain Warehouse or similar. If you are size 7 or more look at the men's ranges, better made and cheaper.

Rome (it seems...) is cool and damp in December so jeans or a dress a bad idea. Posh it up in the evening.

Do the tourist thing and buy a decent pair of trainers! You can always take a pair of nice shoes for the evening.

Try Hotter shoes. They are made for comfort but if you choose wisely they can be surprisingly stylish. You won't get their boots for that price but shoes should be ok.

I can vouch for these, and can wear them all day on my feet without a problem.

The long boots are lovely but expensive

those boots won't stand much rain I fear...

I've just got a pair of boots in the Shuropody sale (they seem to have outlets at a lot of garden centres). They're not leather but are pretty comfortable. www.shuropody.com/products/womens-footwear/boots.html

I've given up on being a stylist tourist though: I love my trainers for stomping around towns.

thanks all, I'll have a look into all of those Smile

I don't own anything that's not leggings or jeans... what else should I look at getting special ?
