This:

with a statement necklace.

Any kind of grey marl crew neck works.

I'm interested in this too. I'm a size 12/14 bottom and 12 top and always stick to the rule if the bottom half is close fitting then the top half is baggier, and vice versa (that doesn't sound very good writing it down!)
In summer I wore a baggy t shirt with my topshop tube skirt. I'm now wearing long sleeved loose fitting jersey tops with the skirt, with ankle slouchy boots.

Good point Goldiefawn - I wore a loose-ish grey V neck top from Top Shop during the summer and it did balance out the proportions. Now that the weather's a bit cooler, I might try my Uniqlo dark grey sweatshirt with tube skirts too (probably with a statement necklace too to jazz it up):

Loose fitting, deep V-neck jumpers - bit slouchy (Uniqlo)
or cropped length sweat shirt (h&m)
or cropped length, boxy shape plaid shirt (h&m) over a long T
or sometimes a Mad Mannish buttoned up cardi which breaks the fitted-on-the-bottom-half-looser-on-the-top rule but hey, I like it.
Always slouchy, bikerish ankle boots.

baskingseals · 21/10/2014 07:40

what about the boots? I can't wear biker type boots due to large feet, what else would go?

Floisme · 21/10/2014 07:41

They're not proper biker boots, just flat and a bit slouchy - would that work?

BettyMoody · 21/10/2014 07:43

a nice uniqlo mans style shirt and a square wide necked jumper

BettyMoody · 21/10/2014 07:43

and heeled ankle boots (in winter, nto now)

Slouchy knitwear, or a silk shirt, or a slim fitted tshirt with a long cardigan (open, so you can see I'm wearing clothes) over it. Or a flannel shirt. Anything I'd wear with skinny jeans apart from long layered tight tops.

Charitygirl1 · 21/10/2014 08:22

As others are saying, there's little you can't wear on top with a tube skirt. Something really tight and skin-showing might be a bit much during the day, but they're generally so flexible. Wearing a tartan one today, with a long sleeve square neck top, and short fitted jacket.

123Jump · 21/10/2014 08:42

May I ask where you have bought your tube skirts from? I'm on the look out for one atm. Thanks.

ClaraDeLaNoche · 21/10/2014 14:36

I've got the navy Whistles one. Can't work out what to wear on legs in winter? Was thinking maybe dark grey wool tights. Please advise oh stylish ones.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/10/2014 14:53

If I did wear a tube skirt, ( big IF ) would a long, belted, cotton miltary type shirt (pockets, possibly) look too 1980s ?

Clackety · 21/10/2014 15:16

Black polo neck and a long scarf, I love long, lean lines.

CointreauVersial · 21/10/2014 18:41

I wear mine at work, so mostly wear with a blouse (loosely tucked) or semi fitted top with a cardi.

cheapskatemum · 21/10/2014 20:20

I bought mine from Sainsbury, 123Jump, I think it was £12. I'll try and post a link. Wore it with a black, fitted scoop necked 3/4 length sleeved top, sheer dark grey tights and black pointy toed stilettos. I'm so happy this look is back in fashion.

frankietwospots · 21/10/2014 22:30

I got mine from Monki: www.monki.com/Skirts/Madelene_skirt/13218-5700892.1#c-51058

and I have a navy one from Top Shop.

foxdongle · 22/10/2014 11:18

shirt + cardi
cable knit jumper
short or long sleeved t-shirt
biker jacket

Amethyst24 · 22/10/2014 11:33

What does one wear on one's legs with them? I imagine opaques would look a bit frumpy but bare legs would be too chilly?

Jemimapuddleduk · 22/10/2014 12:07

I have the karli ruched tube in black from baukjen and then a grey animal print and bottle green one from ASos. The baukjen one is amazing and i am after the same in grey, it's just quite expensive for what it is! I tend to wear with leggings, Chelsea boots with thick socks. On top boxy/slouched jumpers or any of the baukjen jersey basics (fitted jersey shirt, jersey cowl etc). Love as an alternative to skinnies (which I can't yet squeeze into post birth!).
