Recently got a few buys the below with 20% off, should I keep the dress and skirt:-

I have a 50 GBP Whistles GC this is sold out online but may be available instore, is it awful a one season wonder or lovely?

The skirts I saw are good for transitional weather (eg it can't make up its mind but you can layer). I'm 5ft 4 long legs, sort of hourglass but look slimmish if that makes sense.

thanks!

I rather like the Whistles one but am a sucker for a crazy skirt. I wouldn't pay more than £60 for something like that though and £150 is ridiculous.

Don't like the Dotty P's ones, sorry.

What are you actually looking for? Is it for something in particular?

SuperFlyHigh · 19/10/2014 20:44

Just a few new items. The pleats are said to be good transitional wear. But the whistles one is stupidly expensive I agree (yet sold out!)

thanks I was faffing about the Dotty P buys and they had 20% off but not great if they're not that nice!

Transitional in what sense?

Work? Play?

SuperFlyHigh · 19/10/2014 20:48

I think some fashion person stated transitional as in weather eg you can layer them.

work - I'd wear them there maybe or play.

But I think I'd get bored with them vair quickly (apart from maybe the floral dress) so will return.

I have an ancient black pleated skirt which is good as a 'transitional' one because it looks nice with bare legs, Converse and a denim jacket, as well as with opaques, ankle boots and a biker, and even fine with a blazer for work. There are some pleated fake leather ones around now too, which might be a bit more flexible than the green one?

Greengardenpixie · 19/10/2014 21:11

Im not keen on pleated skirts. I just cant get by the fact they seem an old granny style...strangely though, im drawn to the whistles one. I like the quirkiness of the print and the odd hemline. Its the only thing i would keep. its worth the money if you would wear it a lot....and its unusual, hence why its sold out. its also, not a bad length for a pleated skirt. Some can look really frumpy but not that one.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/10/2014 21:20

Speaking of crazy skirts, this could be interesting, and is way cheaper than the Whistles one.

And here is a fake leather one, that Tethers pointed out a while back.

SuperFlyHigh · 20/10/2014 10:55

Remus that jacquard skirt is interesting, not sure if I'd wear it a few times and ditch it though...

I saw some fake leather ones whether it was in Zara or something last week for some reason they just felt off to me but maybe I should try them on?

Let me know how you get on. I've always steered well clear of fake leather, as it can look v cheap, but I am told by reliable sources (ie MN!) that some of it is quite good now.

I'm going to investigate the Topshop one irl - am a little bit in love with the picture of it! Grin
