What colour should I go for? MNers always impress me with their nail polish chat...

I don't go season. I have every color of nail varnish. I am absolutely obsessed with the stuff.
Autumn colors are. Red, brown, Dark Green, Dark Blue, Orange, Gold and Burgundy but don't be afraid to use for example a light blue if you like it. I just use any color to match what I'm wearing

Have you looked on google images or pinterest for ideas? How about combining colours? You don't have to do nail art if you don't want to - for example try searching 'simple winter nails'. There will be nail art & some links to tutorials but lots of colour ideas too.

I've got on Essie 'don't sweater it' its a sort of dark brown/ slate grey. love it! I buy them from eBay they're a bit cheaper. £5ish a bottle.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 19/10/2014 13:10

I get gellish done so I can change colour and it lasts a couple of weeks. Have a cherry red at the moment .

TwoNoisyBoys · 19/10/2014 13:40

I tend to go for burgundy, grey, navy, taupe, cherry red or bronze shades, but this is because that's the colours of my autumn/winter clothes. I usually use Sally Hansen, Barry M and No 7......not very expensive ones, but good quality in my opinion. And I've found some fantastic ones in Poundworld Smile

SuperFlyHigh · 19/10/2014 13:43

I've done a YSL dark sort of navy colour this year (their featured one).

MyMeMy · 19/10/2014 18:22

I have the new Chanel colour Orage - it's a deep sort of navy/grey/green - it's stunning, and lasts 4 days if I use the No 7 stay perfect gel topcoat.

NormHonal · 19/10/2014 18:27

I don't follow "fashions" but either get gel polish done at a salon and pick what I fancy/what suits me, or I have some at home.

I've been trying the Soigné Nails range and love them. I've been a fan of OPI and Chanel in the past but Soigne colours cover in one coat and dry really fast. The colours are lovely.

If you want to try lots of colours, last year's Ciate Advent calendar of nail colours is in TKMaxx and Amazon for £19.99. The new one is in Selfridges for rather more.

Thank you. I use gel polish and have been buying the cheaper makes on ebay (about £4 a bottle) which have been lasting about a week... Going to splash out on a £12 bottle in the hope i'll get 2 weeks out of it. Have gone for a rubble colour but will buy a deep red next...

Ooo, is it the CND Rubble that you've bought? I have it and it's fab. Another nice one is Married to the Mauve. I get mine from Nicely Polished who sell on ebay. Fedora is also a lovely shade for autumn/winter. The only thing with darker shades is that they don't last as long so I keep having to patch them up.

clr2014 · 20/10/2014 13:04

Yes, it's CND. What other makes have you used? I've been using Bluesky (cheaper, pretty good) and Millennium Nails (more expensive, pretty good) Crystal G (cheaper, rubbish)...

I've only used CND colours lately and I love Revlon too. Anything else just doesn't match up. Chanel are the worst!
