Leather leggings

I think I want a pair but I have my concerns. I wore coated black skinnies last year which DH nicknamed my Dell'Ollio pants Hmm . Are leather leggings even worse?

I really love this look from Baukjen. Which is the way I would style them too.

If it is of any use, I am 43 and a size 10.

What sort of thing are we talking, big half tucked shirt type affair?

Twinklestein · 17/10/2014 11:19

Polished is Kensington/St Germain. Loose Women is Essex.

Shenton · 17/10/2014 13:24

Define matchy matchy please ... Am worried now

LadyRubyPenhaligon · 17/10/2014 14:22

Am wondering too what qualifies as matchy matchy?

SofaCanary · 17/10/2014 15:16

Maybe it means too 'done', you know - full face of slap and blown out hair and all that. Don't look like you're trying kind of thing.

noddyholder · 17/10/2014 15:57

All the loose women wear them with jazzy blouse and too much everything I think they look terrible. They are older woman in the media being a bit wacky. They are for young rock chicks who have just picked them up off the floor and crept out of the drummers flat Grin I like them on young people though who can do flat shoes and no make up but with heels and a nice clutch they are ageing

SofaCanary · 17/10/2014 16:11

Bloody hell noddy, I'm going to stick that on my wardrobe as a reminder of what not to wear Shock

Hopefully · 17/10/2014 16:12

If I ever go out looking like that I give anyone who sees me permission to give me a slap.

Merriboo · 17/10/2014 16:30

Hmmm, well yes, that's a styling issue...
I'll see your Cilla and raise you a Martha Stewart

prettywhiteguitar · 17/10/2014 17:02

Wow I need to bleach my eyes after seeing cilla and that one noddy put up

aniceearlynight · 17/10/2014 17:11

Thanks Noddy and Merriboo, you've just completely put me off leather leggings and saved me a shedload of ££££ Grin

AmberNectarine · 17/10/2014 17:19

I love mine, usually wear with oversized shirt and flat rockstuds.

Twinklestein · 17/10/2014 17:52

I doubt anyone here is in Martha and Cilla's age range.

It's a bit like letting the queen putting you off wearing tweed...

foxdongle · 17/10/2014 18:03

Martha's 71? I think she looks really good at that age. good for her.

WitchWay · 17/10/2014 19:05

Oh FFS. I was just popping back to check the thread before purchasing said leggings...& then I spotted the Cilla link ??.

I tried on a faux pair in Zara today with zips at the ankle. They are stupidly flattering & £25. Would look fab with Converse & an oversized knit. The plan is to buy those to test the water & see how much I wear them before a major splurge on a leather pair.

Oooohhhh I've been thinking about hhis very same thing. I'm a size 14 though so worried about looking like a pair of black puddings Confused

Claxonia · 18/10/2014 13:16

I just got a HelmutLang pair in TKMaxx. So excited!

Sylviet · 18/10/2014 13:32

Hi Ujjayi, The Zara leggings, would a size 10 be a small or a medium, do you think?

SofaCanary · 18/10/2014 14:33

I'm a 10 and needed the medium in the Zara trouser version, not sure about the leggings though.

Ujjayi · 18/10/2014 18:35

Sylviet medium in the Zara leggings is a 10 but I sized up to the large because I felt they were more flattering to my athletic legs.

I also bought a version from H&M which have a zip front (stupid iPad won't let me link for some reason). I need to decide between the two styles and return one pair. I like the fact that they feel more trouser and less legging like. They are also longer in the leg so you get a subtle crumpled look at the ankle.

Claxonia · 19/10/2014 08:18

Was in the Croydon one, they were £160 in the clearance. Cannot put on any weight as they are a bit snug!
