Hair like straw

I've always had great hair, but recently it's become quite straw-like - any suggestions to get it back to soft and lucious?

Do you bleach it? Hot oil treatments make your hair lovely and soft, have you tried them?

Have you had your thyroid checked?

my hair went v. dry all of a sudden after the summer when it was in very good condition.. in the end, last week I got it all chopped off, and now have a very short crop hairstyle which is v. liberating and easy to look after... hair is in great condition and loads of people have said I look much younger!

Jabberwocky - I have an underactive thyroid, which went haywire recently, but is back under control - I suspect its the reason why - well spotted! Still need to sort it out and don't want to cut it short as I look terrible with short hair due to fat face

I would say you've hit the reason. Do lots of deep conditioning and give it some time. And, maybe not a short cut but a generous trim.

A good leave in conditioner for one day. Then wash it again and use another (wash out) conditioner - I like Aussies 5 minute miracle.

It might look a bit greasy with leave in conditioner (I find some do whatever they say) but they usually do good.

Oh and get bottle of 5 minute miracle and use it twice a week at least should help keep it under control (bit pricey about £5-6, but worth it I think).
