Jeans for Genes Day at school - glitter and gems; HELP!

DD has the Jeans for Genes Day at school next week. They are going the whole hog though adnd the girls are to go in their jeans, with glitter, sequins, gems, tiaras, and funky hair!

So, DD has a pair of jeans, and I can manage the jems and tiara. But how to jazz up her jeans and a top? Or where to buy jazzy clothes? And without spending a fortune!

And what does funky hair mean?

DD's first year at school, so new to all this

Help!

can't help you! the children do jeans for genes at their school but I don't have to do anything other than put them in their jeans and remember their donation!

how about a colourful belt for her jeans and if you don't have one, a sparkly scarf thing tied round where the belt goes? H&M or Primark often have shirts with sparkly bits on if you want to look for something new.

hulababy · 30/09/2006 13:11

Think I might go for the sparkly material for a belt hanging down. If I get pink and glittery then it'll gow with her boots. And maybe some for he rhair too.

I've got an old pair of dd's sparkly jeans that you could have if age 5 would fit? They have pink embroidery, sequins and beads all up one leg and a patch at the top of the other. Would save you jazzing up your dd's jeans.

How much WWW, inc P&P? Interested as would save me time looking and changing her jeans from what they are! And would they be here by Friday?

go to a chemist and you can buy Glittery hair spray. its about £2. spray that all over the front of the jeans and it will trun them glittery...it all comes off in the wash!

get a plain old top and then just sew on a few sequins. she can always bin it after the event but she woill probably love it as it will be all girly and glittery.

all for less than a fiver i would imagine

WigWamBam · 30/09/2006 13:24

I'll do my level best to get them there for Friday if you'd like them! I can get them in the post on Monday (have missed today's post) - they're quite light so they'll probably cost £1.50 - £2 to post.

WigWamBam · 30/09/2006 13:35

I've just weighed them and I reckon they'll cost at most £1.50 to post.

what about the glitter babes range at Boots? they do very cheap face and eye glitter glosses - not proper make up, just fun really.

hulababy · 30/09/2006 19:37

Will go into town on Monday (without DD in tow) for some accessories - will see what is around. Have a big Boots.

Trouyble is I forgot! Out all day tomorrow. At work Tuesday, Wed and Thurs. So only have Monday to sort it out, and that will include the shopping. Oh and Sainsburys is delivering in the morning between 10 and 11, and after school me and DD are going to a friend's house. Eeek!

And I def can't sew.

Dd went to a disco a while back and i decorated a pair of jeans for her, I went tot he haberdahsers and bought a pink heart made of tiny pink beads that I sewed on and then I bought lots of coordinating pink beads and did wavy lines at the bottom of the leg at alternating lengths. DD absoliutely adored them. But they did take ages to sew, I can remember thinking what has happened to my life that I am up until 1 in the morning sewing sequins on jeans so my 4 year old can go to a disco - where has my life gone?

twinsetandpearls · 30/09/2006 19:56

sorry just seen that you can't sew, you can get iron on patches or glittery decorations.

hulababy · 30/09/2006 19:57

LOL. I know how you feel. Right now my 4yo DD has a better social and more eventful life than I do!

Looks like I will be in town of Monday
