OMG - Bourjois Healthy mix serum foundation

I have been buying top end foundation for years. I have fairly pale, dry skin, and like foundation to be lightweight, and reflecting.

My most recent purchases were the Chantecaille oil free gel foundation at 58 (which is lovely, but bloody expensive) and the YSL touche eclat foundation at 30 (very nice).

Following a MN recommendation, I went to Boots to have a look at the Bourjois one. They were doing a two products for 14, so I bought the foundation and the rose ambre (I think) blusher in a little pot, which is also raved about.

I am so pleased! The foundation retails at 9.99 for 30ml, which is brilliant value, and I really like the product. Lightweight, excellent colour match for me, and stays put. I will try layering it too, to see if thats possible. Yay!

Have a look at Lisa Elridge .com for her make up tips with bourjois make up.
She highly recommends it.

Not for me, I'm afraid, It gave me a break out!

Interesting. I was considering changing my foundation, as I'm worried it's ageing me, but tbh, it could just be the fact that I am ageing Confused Currently using Clinique Even Better and I like it cos it's very moisturisng and it's not too cakey. However, for some reason, it just doesn't seem to suit anymore and it's starting to show up every imperfection.

I may have a look at this Bourjois one. I'm pale too, so this is why I only usually buy foundation from the counter, cos other cheaper brands don't tend to have my colour. So does it give you a dewy look? I like that rather than the heavy, put on with a trowel look Grin

Venus, but then don't you think Lisa Eldrige might be getting a bit of dollar for recommending these products. I don't tend to listen to professional reccomendations, only RL ones. I would listen to tips on how to apply make up etc, but that's it.

breakingtradition · 15/10/2014 10:24

Also, if it has serum in it, does that mean you can't wear your usual serum? Wouldn't that be a serum overload?!

WellTidy · 15/10/2014 11:04

breaking it is lightweight, not at all cakey. Dewy enough, well, for me, anyway. My skin is dry, and I am 39. I have quite good skin (no open pores, not prone to break outs), but it does look its 39 years, probably because its dry.

I bought the vanilla colour, which is the second palest.

I am an estee lauder skincare devotee, so I use my cleanser, then Idealist, then eye cream, then moisturiser. I haven't used a primer today under the foundation, but I would usually use Estee Lauder's illuminating primer.

I am just delighted that Ive found a prioduct that works for me at this price!

Venus I will definitely look at her tutorial when the DC are in bed and I have time to myself.

I really like it as well. Be warned all the shades tend to be slightly yellow toned, which is brilliant for me but may not work if you have a cooler skin tone.

squoosh · 15/10/2014 11:29

Way too yellow for me.

breakingtradition · 15/10/2014 12:23

Can I just say, the problem with Lisa Eldridge is that she's so naturally stunning, that it's kind of off putting and makes you feel like her looks are unobtainable. Can't make my mind up whether I envy her, or I fancy her...... Anyway, just thought I'd throw that in there Grin

breakingtradition · 15/10/2014 12:27

Think I meant her looks are unattainable

squoosh · 15/10/2014 12:29

The lighting in her videos is mega flattering. I'd love to walk around all day in dappled sunlight. Might be a bit cumbersome dragging a lighting crew along with me though.

breakingtradition · 15/10/2014 12:38

Haha squoosh, very true. I guess she's not just filming from her built in laptop webcam is she Grin

HeyMacWey · 15/10/2014 12:45

I love Lisa Eldridge and think of her blog she says she only recommends products she personally rates. Obviously for her chanel videos she's promoting their products.

I have the healthy mix serum and love it although in the summer is too dewy for me (and combination skin).

Previously used double wear light but am now on a tighter budget.

aftereight · 15/10/2014 16:34

After years of Clarins and Chanel foundations, I am a convert to the Bourjois one too. Amazing stuff, and not heavily scented like the premium brands.

karinmaria · 15/10/2014 16:37

Bourjois is owned by Chanel so much of the R&D spend etc. is filtered down to the Bourjois products. One of the reasons it's a good, affordable brand!

squoosh · 15/10/2014 16:40

I think Bourjois own Chanel actually.

SwedishEdith · 15/10/2014 16:50

I've always found it too yellow as well but I do love Bourjois stuff in general though. I had the Boots skin colour test recently, when I was a bit bored, and I'm really quite impressed - not yellow at all.

Rattitude · 15/10/2014 20:31

Funnily enough, Bourjois has now been acquired by Coty, so we will have to see what impact this has on the future of Bourjois cosmetics.

ThisBitchIsResting · 15/10/2014 20:40

I love it, it's my favourite foundation. I have pale skin with a little redness and when I'm tired, I can look grey - I like the yellow toned aspect of it as it warms me up a little - I use the lightest shade, Cool Vanilla I think. It's light but creamy and moisturising and lasts really well.

Bartlebee · 15/10/2014 20:40

I bought this after seeing it on Lisa Eldridge.

I have same colouring/eyes/hair as her so am easily swayed by stuff she uses on herself.

It is really nice and gives a really dewy look but you need a very small amount indeed.

karinmaria · 15/10/2014 23:04

Rattitude really?! Can't help but feel disappointed by that. Bourjois always had a decent product come out not too long after a new successful Chanel launch.

Used to do quite a bit of work for Chanel (and by extension Bourjois) but been out of the field for a couple of years. Coty have some great brands though so it will be really interesting. Thanks!

karinmaria · 15/10/2014 23:05

Ps sorry for derailing slightly!

Rattitude · 15/10/2014 23:31

Karin, it might not be a done deal yet but Coty made a binding offer for Bourjois last week.
