Following on from the hairband thread, I saw a woman late 30's/40's with schoolgirl plaits.

Verdict?

Hmmmm, well, much as I'd like to say it looks great (I have long hair which I used to put in two plaits, and loved wearing it that way), I alwasy think it looks a bit lame and sad on other (older than 15 year old) people. So I don't wear them unless I'm hiking or something, where its sort of for a joke and sort of for practicality.

Thomcat · 29/09/2006 22:54

done mine in pigtales at a festival before, am 35.

brimfull · 29/09/2006 22:55

ok on a young looking person ,again needs to be funky

Astrophe · 29/09/2006 22:55

At a festival or similar I'd say its ok (or just kicking around at home)...although I'm not exactly a guru of style myself . I'll be interested to see what others say.

TinyGang · 29/09/2006 22:58

Yes, I think it can look ok if you've got a certain look.

It didn't work on the woman I saw but she had lovely hair though.

Hmm. Perhaps if you were German and wound them circular-style around your ears....

Blossomhill · 29/09/2006 23:02

Don't like it. High pony tail much nicer!

nearlythree · 29/09/2006 23:05

Single big thick long plait, fine. O/wise, probably not.

Bunches definitely not, no, no, no.

Thomcat · 29/09/2006 23:08

BH - hang on sec, bunches on a trendy over 30's mum are out but a high pony tail is ok. This on the same night you tell us about your leopard print top - ?!?!?!?!?!

I think it is a bad look if your hairstyle matches that of your child.

janeite · 29/09/2006 23:37

Well I wear mine in bunches (low ones) quite often, and in plaits occasionally (when I can be bothered with the fiddling). I think it looks nice. Am 36.

I try to aim for quite a quirky look though; I wouldn't wear my hair like this with a boring outfit!

Am I really the only one?!!!

TinyGang · 29/09/2006 23:38

Pmsl that is a great look on WN.

I wear my hair in plaits when I am doing martial arts, so not very often, and not infront of anyone who would notice
