gloopy and stringy, that is

Do they only last a year?

They have a secret language and use it to gang up on you?

Seriously, I'vee no idea. I have some pots which have lasted for years, others which went gloopy really quickly and all are kept in the same place (bedroom).

Lottapianos · 13/10/2014 13:34

I use nail polish thinner (no particular brand) which I buy on eBay for a few quid - add 2-3 drops to any gloopy polish and shake well. Thins it out nicely

BettyMoody · 13/10/2014 13:34

great tip!

I've heard that certain nail varnishes are like dogs. They grow to resemble their ownets.

HOw gloopy are you?

BettyMoody · 13/10/2014 13:38

Bit late but... Put a few drops of nail varnish remover in and give it a good shake and it'll be back to normal. Or keep in the fridge xx

Trills · 19/10/2014 15:37

They want to curse you to have naked nails.

BettyMoody · 19/10/2014 15:48

My Seche Vite top coat (which cost ££££), has gone horribly stringy and there's still half a bottle left.

It is clearly Secheing a little bit too Vite. Hmm

BettyMoody · 19/10/2014 21:34

The brilliant red sally Hansen quick dry thing does the same

OP posts:
RichTeaAreCrap · 19/10/2014 22:49

Yes Betty, I use that and it drives me mad that it does it when I have loads of it left.

NormHonal · 19/10/2014 22:53

All of my lovely ones, some unused, have done this, as I have discovered today.

Surely summat to do with the weather or central heating going on, mine have changed quite suddenly?

BettyMoody · 20/10/2014 04:10

Our heating isn't on yet so it ain't that

TheCowThatLaughs · 20/10/2014 06:28

Keep it in the fridge

Vajazzler · 20/10/2014 06:40

Cointreu you need to get a bottle of Seche restore. A few drops and your Vite will be as good as new. And you can use it on all types of polish. I have it and it's amazing stuff.
You should never ever add nail polish remover to polish as it breaks it down.
Betty are you doing the lids up tightly? Where do you keep the polishes? They will evaporate over time if kept in too warm a place.

BettyMoody · 20/10/2014 07:13

Well so many of my darker colours have gone pfutt over the summer im sporting dayglo pink

CointreauVersial · 20/10/2014 17:07

Thanks Vajazzler, I'll look out for that.

dun1urkin · 20/10/2014 19:52

It's already been said, but seche restore (which is ACE) and keep them in the fridge. I've had some for literally years and years (don't do my nails that often) and all they need is a gentle roll to remix and they're good to go.

CointreauVersial · 20/10/2014 23:20

Right-o.

Bottle of Seche Restore ordered.

No more gloop.

Vajazzler · 21/10/2014 06:33

You won't regret it

aylesburyduck · 21/10/2014 21:27

In the bit of my brain where I store all sorts of random crap I remember reading/hearing that you should wipe the neck of the polish bottle with nail varnish remover (not getting it in the polish though!!) and then putting a teeny bit of vaseline on the neck.

I think it must have something to do with keeping the bottle sealed properly.

RichTeaAreCrap · 21/10/2014 21:48

Just ordered som Seche Restore, it sounds great
