Need a new handbag because my other one got covered in dog poo and I don't feel the same way about it anymore

I'll tell you the story if you like but for now, cutting to the chase I need a new handbag because I am currently using a carrier bag!!!

I intend to go shopping tomorrow. Shopping Centre includes John Lewis, Next, Gap the usuals...and I am hoping to pick one up tomorrow. Not keen to do an internet purchase because I want to look / feel / try the bag.

My old handbag was an across the body Radley a bit like this:
this one

I loved it and I guess I could just replace it with the same, but that would be unimaginative.

The new handbag should have a long strap (so preferably it can go across the body like my old radley)..

Any suggestions?

why not have a look online, then check out your faves tomorrow?

Sorry to hear about your bag but your thread title made me roar!

I've got a Radley over the body one in leather and I love it. Goes with just about everything. Got it from John Lewis

I would not be happy if it got dog poo on it

Same here, Lact8.

Sorry, HMC. It was the "....I don't feel the same way about it anymore" that got me.

I'm crap at fashion/style stuff so I'm not the person to ask. But thankyou for making me smile.

I had a look online and didn't like anything I saw, so I'm going to be really boring and replace my radley with a new radley (but with a different colour and slightly different styling)...

Shall I tell you how it happened? Well it was the nightmare dogwalk from hell. Had ds in buggy and my 2 dogs walking alongside. One had unbeknown to me developed a dicky tummy and deposited wet gooey poo on the pavement. I tried to pick it up the best I could, but was only using a flimsy poo bag so my long fingernail penetrated the plastic and I got dog poo up my nail [puke emoticon]. Anyway being quite stoical I carried on congratulating myself on managing to pick up most of it leaving hardly any residue behind.

However 5 minutes later my dog deposited 'wet' poo on the grass. Stopping to pick it up my handbag trailed in it, also the other dog's lead trailed in it (unbeknown to me since I grabbed other dog's lead and got a hand covered in s&t, and my pooey handbag brushed alongside a carrier bag hanging off the handlebar of my pushchair and coated that with sht too. That particular carrier bag had been holding fresh bakery items in it.

How I managed not to cry like a baby I don't know!

oh poor you! wEll done for not leaving it to fester in teh grass though.

(also LOL-ed at "don't feel the same about it")

Lact8 · 29/09/2006 14:43

Sorry hmc

But story just as funny as the thread title! In a thank feck that didn't happen to me kind of way

Well done for being so brave about it because that would've reduced me to tears

tissy · 29/09/2006 14:51

oh well, at least you can give the bag a good clean and sell it on Ebay . No need to tell anyone about the poo, unless it's really obvious

foxinsocks · 29/09/2006 14:51

ooh lol sorry hmc - it's just your turn of phrase!

TheRealCam · 29/09/2006 14:56

Maybe you should get a nice brown bag this time

Sorry but your story has reminded me of one of the reasons I don't do dogs

sunchowder · 29/09/2006 15:04

Classic HMC!

mummycan · 29/09/2006 15:09

Clarks have a nice Radleyesque across the shoulder bag at the moment.
