Talk me out of buying these boots! (Or tell me which colour to get)

I saw these the other day and they're so lovely but I seriously don't need them do I?! I've a toddler and a newborn, it's coming into winter and I'll not get the wear out of them will I? I'll break my neck in them or just never get them out of the box.
Talk some sense into me!

Or tell me whether to get the brown or black ones!

Can't see them yet as the site is down, but who needs practical?!?!?!

Ps I always think brown boots look way better than black which remind me of school days, office wear or older people
