Every year is the same, I have nothing to wear
I am just too casual. I wear short skirts jumpers and boots, tunic or jumper dress, leggings and boots
I am pathetic in heels
I don't actually like the neat little look that a lot of people go for but am sick of feeling scruffy
Any ideas of what I would feel ok in and still look partyish
I know its a big ask

If this is not going to be a dead thread what do you think of this?

I am not sure about all the fussy stuff around the neck or what I would wear with it

Have you got a decent LBD? I bought a short 50's style (full skirt, fitted waist & top) a while back & it always comes out at Christmas Grin. For a glitzy party I pair with nude tights, high heels & some bling or slightly less dressy & a bit more edgy version (not that I'm particularly edgy Smile) with black tights, heeled shoe boots, chunky jewellery & a little leather jacket.

I really like that and I think you can get away with wearing pointed flats as going out shoes rather than heels. I think eBay is fab - I went to a wedding last year and a woman had on a fab dress that she was proudly announcing had cost her 99p.

Another good idea is to buy a couple of magazines - dunno how old you old but Red is a good one for 30's + and see what's in fashion/will suit me and eBay for similar - you can get good quality without spending a fortune - I can't justify squillions on a dress for a couple of parties that I will get bored of.

You need to find the right ones. Seriously. They're out there somewhere. There are lots of beautiful flats but nothing finished a party outfit better than a great pair of heels.

They don't have to be super high and can even be shoe boots (which I find much more comfy). But find the perfect heels and you'll worry much less about the rest.

It's a nice dress but would need heels (or flats sandals/flip flops but obviously not for Xmas) but it's a very striking colour so something I doubt you'd get much wear out of although at that price why not?
