Opinions needed please on a little black dress

I need something for a posh work do coinciding with my wedding anniversary next Friday night. What do you think of this black stretch lace dress ? Clearly gorgeous on a size 8 but what about a 12 weeks pregnant 18/20? Big boobs, large tummy at the best of times and a rapidly thickening waist. Figured covering the arms and showing a bit of cleavage would be plus points but am I being a bit optimistic?

i feel...unwise, tbh...

sorry

nice dress, would it be very clingy?

nice shape.

pineneedle · 28/09/2006 19:35

this black dress is lovely too; maybe you could put one of the little cardi things over it? Debenhams have got a nice wrap dress and a nice wrap top in the "garden party" section too...

PcCOD · 28/09/2006 19:38

id go for a NORMAL kaftan wiht strethcy trews tbh

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 28/09/2006 19:38

that last dress significantly nicer IMO

Cheers girls.. thought it night be a bit optimistic . I just dont normally suit strappy tops at all and I liked this ones arm coverage. Ive got a standby black wrap dress but think this could be my last chance for a jazzier number. Maybe I'll just spend the money on some nice jewellery instead.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 28/09/2006 19:51

i think thats a wise plan, actually

nice jewellry is great when pg, it cheers you up when you have to wear Teflon maternity stuff with gussets

pineneedle · 28/09/2006 19:59

Well, you could def buy and try and return it if it's not so good on...

newgirl · 28/09/2006 21:46

think dress pineneedle has seen is fab - go on treat yourself!

treacletart · 02/10/2006 21:23

Well I got it and its great! Got the 18 and its not at all clingy - could even be a little bit big - DH is going to sew it to my bra on Friday night to prevent gaping! but it looks cool. Orderd a couple of sizes of another dress too as a standby but there was only 1 in the pack (but listed as 2) I told Next immediately, but I'm really scared they'll bill me for the missing one - any experience anyone?

MamaGhoul · 02/10/2006 23:19

OOooooh Peacocks maternity! You know Grazia called Peacocks the new Primark! Nice dress! Very similar to my old faithful actually. Well I'm happy with my new black lace and DH assures me it's more Marilyn than Hattie. Now, just need the killer heels........
