WHERE are all the long smart coats?

I really need a new winter coat. It needs to be warm and it needs to go over a suit for work. So it needs to be smart. All the shops appear to only have short or mid length ones in. Where are all the long, smart, warm coats hiding? Does anyone know?

Sorry, I know that's not helpful. If this season's coats are too short for you, perhaps try eBay for longer ones?

Hobbs has a couple. I bought a very long maxi style one from there last week and am debating cutting it a bit shorter I am so desperate. I have spent hours searching for a black, all wool coat that is long is enough to totally cover a suit skirt...nothing. And I am short. It's so annoying.

But, but, but how can this season's coats be too short? Women don't simply get warmer and not need full length coats because fashion has deemed that they are out this season? Surely?

Fanjango - you may be onto something. Which, couple with the above, is rather depressing.

Thanks for the Hobbs tip off But. Off to look there now. I am a short arse too but I still want a coat that will keep my knees warm.

Jaegar has some beautiful long coats - lots in the outlet too.

By long do you mean ankle length/ midi- or knee length?

Ankle length is a bit out of fashion but there are plenty of knee length and thereabouts- look at the John lewis website under Coats.

Yep I meant ankle length. I find it bamboozling that long coats can be out of fashion: it's cold in winter! I don't want something that only keeps me warm to my knees!

They often have styles that arent 'in fashion', and thats OK with me. I cant stand these little bum skimming coast!

I came on to say Jaeger outlet! It's fabulous, I love the quality of Jaeger stuff but couldn't pay full price. DH has a couple of shirts from there and also a cashmere jumper which are all gorgeous.
