Help me buy something that is nice to have rather than necessary.

I have just got a big promotion at work which will double my salary (yes, I'm very lucky) and I want to buy myself something as a treat. Everything that I've bought since DS (4) was born has been bought out of necessity not want and now I just want to buy something because it's lovely and it will be a pleasure to wear! I really don't have many clothes or shoes.

I'd like to buy something that I actually wear- I've found any number of beautiful sandals in the House of Fraser sale but I don't go out very much and it's business casual at work so when would I wear them? My two under 4s and a husband at work all weekend (how rude) don't permit going into town and having a browse.

I'm 5ft7, size 12 on top and 14 on the bottom and normally like Mint Velvet, some M and S, Warehouse and Mango amongst others. The budget is £100 but preferably less (current finances don't permit going mad!).

So, I know this isn't a massive purchase but can any of you wise S+Bers inspire me?

I quite like this

I always think a coat is a god thing to buy. It reallt makes an impact on your wardrobe.what is your style?

I like the shoes, but my first thought was also coat.
One that's glam rather than practical.

Ahhh, Margaritas, I just bought a coat! I threw away my winter coat last year as it was so scruffy and I wanted to get in early before they all sold out.

The best way to describe my style is "unfussy" - I really like Cos and All Saints but don't own any. Because of that I can struggle with looking a bit plain at times. I own three scarves - I think my Mum has 20!

How abiut a silk shirt? Uniqlo have good ones around £40, although I personally lust after Pure collection silk satin things - around £70.

Also jaeger outlet can be brill for simple leather handbags. I got a big blue leather shopper for £70 for a friends 50th birthday.

Nice coat!

Cashmere and silk, both good ideas. I will have a look at those, thank you.
