CatKisser · 03/10/2014 17:19

I wussed out last month like an idiot and my hair has become unmanageably long - almost bum length when wet.
Tomorrow its all going!! Had to book an unfamiliar hairdresser as I don't know the area well but this one seems nice... This is the intended finished result!! So nervous!

Good luck and I hope you love it :-) any chance of a pic when it's done?

temporaryusername · 03/10/2014 17:54

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

VillaVillekulla · 03/10/2014 17:58

Good luck. I did the same recently and don't regret it at all. Make sure you've got a hairdresser who understands curly hair.

CatKisser · 03/10/2014 17:59

Thanks, will post a pic tomorrow. I did specifically ask the hairdresser about curly hair and she was very reassuring. Haven't had my hair cut for over 2 years..!

Thanks! Annoyingly, I'm a long way from brum and have a feeling he'd be out of my price league. Would be nice to have a proper curl specialist but...this woman is only £24 Grin

Just don't let them razor the hair, because razoring and feathering stops the curls being able to clump iyswim. So just say at the beginning you don't want that.

CatKisser · 03/10/2014 19:11

Oooh - many thanks for that, temporary!!! I have a morbid fear of the fuzzy triangle.

OP posts:
temporaryusername · 03/10/2014 19:56

Yes, I have been more familiar with the fuzzy triangle than I ever wanted to be Blush.

Bartlebee · 03/10/2014 20:01

Good luck. It can look gorgeous.

I had all my long curly hair cut into a jaw length bob once and sadly it looked like a thatched roof.

CatKisser · 03/10/2014 20:05

Just did a proper snigger at thatched roof - sorry!! Grin
Please don't visit me, Karma!

I had a lot taken off my curly hair recently. I deliberately chose the hairdresser with curls :)

I was afraid of too many layers. I thought I would look like a late-30s year old Orphan Annie, but she persuaded me to put more in than I thought. I really like it. It's not quite as short as the one in the picture and ginger obviously because I'm a bit self conscious about my bony neck and collar bones, but I really like it and will definitely be ditching the length from now on.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 03/10/2014 20:08

Just bear in mind that it will be a lot curlier short than it is long because the weight of the long hair pulls it out a bit.

Come back and show us. Grin

Bartlebee · 03/10/2014 20:10

Now I have just looked at the Mat James link and I am desperate to go to him.

ps thatched roof haircut cost £300!

CatKisser · 03/10/2014 20:16

Adorabelle - I'm happy for it to go curly - I've spent 30 years fighting against the curl and it's not worked, so going to run with it instead.
Plus a short style that would dry quickly with just some curl creme whacked in would be great. Reassuring, Hester, thanks!!
Bartlebee - that's terrible!! £300 Shock
I will be calling in sick for the foreseeable future if I join the thatched roof club.

museumum · 03/10/2014 20:16

Yay!
I just had mine cut from collar bone length with shorter bits round my face to this shape with the face bits the same but shorter at the back and it's great, i love it. it dries so much faster and is much more manageable and i've been told i look loads younger :)
I finally feel like i have a 'style' rather than just hair.

CatKisser · 03/10/2014 20:17

Oooh thanks, museumum - that's so good to read! I've never had a style. I just drag a brush through it and bun it up.

I have finally found someone who can cut curly hair, after a lot of good advice here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1553517-Curly-hair-cut-short

I love my hair now. I did spend yesterday thinking it looked rubbish but then I realised I had parted it in the wrong place and it was all out of balance.

WestEast · 03/10/2014 20:26

My last boss had a short curly bob, it's looked beautiful! Go for it!

CatKisser · 03/10/2014 20:29

Oh god, more sniggering - Trisha Yates!! Sorry Humphrey Grin The quote of that thread was "it's not that long, just that ugly"
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I had mine cut a couple of weeks ago. After years of fighting the curl I asked the hairdresser to go with it. When she started putting in layers I did panic and the amount of hair on the floor was incredible

It's taken me a couple of weeks to get used to it (was v long and now is jaw length) I loved being able to get up, wash and dry in a flash but I didn't love the look.

Today I was walking along a corridor in work and caught a glimpse of myself reflected in a glass picture frame and realised that I do like it after all.

CatKisser · 03/10/2014 20:33

Good....good....gleaning confidence from these posts!

OP posts:
CatKisser · 03/10/2014 20:34

And yes to being able to get up and not having either spend 40 mins drying or going to work with wet hair!!

My biggest fear was ending up with Crystaltips triangle hair.
Luckily it's fine.

carriewintermeadow · 03/10/2014 22:54

I had mine cut last week, by a new hairdresser who has curly hair. I was afraid of ending up like Orphan Annie, so she put no layers in, now I have a frizzy triangle Sad It's not too bad, especially if I let it grow longer again it'll be OK, but I wanted a curly bob Sad
