I'm trying to style my hair for 70's fancy dress party tonight, want flicks/waves at the sides of my shoulder length hair.
Friend has lent me 2 curling tongs one is a large barrel type, the other a babyliss spiral thing but I don't know how to use it! I've tried using the larger one but I'm not getting the right effect!
Can anyone help I'm running out of time!!

We didn't have tongs in the 70s - the flick effect was achieved with a hairbrush - just use a round brush to hold the 'flick' - a hairdryer to warm it for a few seconds, then cool air (still holding the brush, it's the cooling that makes the flick 'hold') - et voilá!
