Post-baby hair loss - headscarf/hats? Paper bag over head?

Evenin'.

DS2 is now 5mo, and my hair is still falling out in brushloads every day.
I've lost almost all of it at my temples, but the regrowth has come in and is now about 1/1.5cm, so thank fuck for that! Also, the top of the head hasn't shed so much so if my hair is loose the baldy bits are mostly hidden.

My hair is dark brown with grey bits, wavy-straight, below shoulder length, and now incredibly thin. I tie it up a lot, which shows the thin areas, and looks awful - pony tail more like a rat tail. No volume whatsoever.
Any suggestions for anything I can do/wear to ride out the regrowth? I was thinking I might try tying headscarves, or maybe some kind of hat?? Confused

Ideally I really want to crop it all off in a gamine cut, but post baby I'm far heavier than would suit it - really need to keep it longish to both hide the sparse bits and be vaguely flattering. Of course if I woke up 2 stone lighter tomorrow I'd march down to the hairdressers and lop it all off, but non, not at this size and with this many chins!

Thank you! Cake

Use a semi perm dye on it..makes it look thicker
Get your hormone and thyroid levels tested ( bound to be post natal hair loss but check)
Make sure ponytail isn't too tight and breaking pulling out hair

It is simply the hair you. Didn't lose in preg.

Thank you Ronald, dying it hadn't occurred to me! Only problem there is I like the colour it is, haven't dyed it for 15 years! Grin Will ask my hairdresser what she reckons.

Argh im having this problem too. DD is now 10.5 months and the regrowth is about 2cms, and I look like I have horns! Also doesn't help that DD plays with my hair when she's drifting off to sleep and pulls even more out. Interested to hear about dying it, I will try that. Otherwise I'm just avoiding mirrors for the foreseeable future Sad.

Would anything like rollers, or heated round brush underneath help with volume if you have a natural wave?

I have very thick hair, so even though I seem to lose tonnes of it, I was always reassured that it was hardly noticeable. That was until I realised I had gained about half an inch of forehead, and I wasn't exactly lacking I that department anyway. Thank goodness I now sport a rather fetching 'baby fringe', that is helpfully a different texture and length to the rest of my hair. What a relief.

Hello fellow shedders!
I too have gained further unwanted forehead footage. My forehead was plenty big enough to start with so much so that my GM refused to put up pictures of me without a fringe .
If only I could get over my love for carbs and just crop it all off eh. Humph.
