Got a style pinterest board - now what?

In my quest to find my style before I hit 40 (& then attempt to build a wardrobe around said style) I've been busy creating a pinterest 'style' board. I've pinned loads of outfits & individual bits I like but most of them are either from America or serious designer pieces waaay out of my budget.

So now I've found a look I like but I'm still no further in creating a wardrobe (lost a fair bit of weight so really do have very little!) as I'm not sure how to recreate the look I like but appropriate to my size/shape or where to buy individual pieces.

Those of you who use pinterest, do you just pin items you know you can buy here & will suit you or is some of it just about creating a look & a general style & if so how to translate that to your purchases?

Can you explain the style you're looking for?

I use Pinterest to pin looks/clothes I like, irrespective of whether they are designer or from Asda (not that there are many pins from Asda Grin). I find that overall it creates a 'look' that is 'my style'.

Then when shopping or planning a new purchase, it can give me pointers of what to look for, eg if I decide I want a particular style of boots, there will usually be high-end and low-end options as the high street usually follows the designers, although sometimes pared-down and often a season later.

I also find it helps when I am tempted to buy something thats not really 'my style', just because of a whim or something I used to be into, I'll think, does that go with the 'look' I'm trying to create? I can flick through my 'Fashion' pins to help decide.

I noticed when I pinned things that the overall look was 'neat and tailored'. That really helped define my style and stopped me longing after floaty things.

Is there an overall style on yours or is more random and you've identifiedspecific items rather than a look?

skinny jeans or cigarette pants with chunky knits & boots or converse & layered tops, maxi skirts, skirts with tights & knee boots, I love scarves (& have loads as these are one of few things I've kept from my 'bigger' wardrobe). Nothing too radical and probably like 90% of people on pinterest or S&B Blush

colours I like black, brown, grey, mustard, coral & navy, cream/white shirts, bright blue, tan/leopard print accessories. Typical pear shape with slim top half/waist but bigger hips & my legs aren't good enough for short skirts but fine with knee length & tights.

I'm the same, Clackety, in that an overall 'look' became clear, thats where I found it helpful.

I don't pin much from Pinterest itself (other than from people I am following) unless I have just bought something new and am looking for ideas on how to style it.

You could try picking out pieces you like from your pinterest board and searching for similar things on Shopstyle (a lot of the brands they have are UK based) or Polyvore (more US based), rather than trying to find things to buy through Pinterest.

Then once you buy an item, you can go back to Pinterest, pin it to a "my wardrobe" board and start searching for outfit ideas (for instance search "breton top outfit")

I also have separate boards for separate items to buy and complete outfit inspiration pics, I think that helps.

Maybe link to your board so people can suggest UK alternatives?

I've found pinterest really helpful, I've pinned loads of outfits made up of simple plain pieces with good accessories. Which explains why I struggle to make outfits I like from my wardrobe of patterned items...

I love pinterest. I search for something say 'skinny jeans with boots'' or 'biker jacket outfits' and just pin the things I like. You can put in curvy/ slim body outfits.

If you search for things you have already got, it can give you ways to wear them that you wouldn't have thought of before. I can recreate most outfits from what I already have tbh. But if I do buy a new item (rare atm) I will look for ideas. I also pin hairstyles and make-up.

I definitely noticed the similarities in what I pinned more and more, it is obviously my 'look'.
