Dresses to wear with chunky tights and boots?!

LS24 · 29/09/2014 16:10

Can anyone help? I would like to find some nice winter dresses that I could wear thick tights and boots with. The trouble is straight/pencil dress styles suit me best rather than aline or flared and most of these dresses are more formal. I am looking for casual dresses that are straighter and I can wear boots and thick tights....any suggestions please?! Thank you.

Gap have lots of straight/shift/jumper dresses at the mo that would look good with tights:

This dress from Sainsburys TU isn't majorly flowy so might worth a look? It's really lovely in real life: www.sainsburys-live-well-for-less.co.uk/tu-clothing/products/women/paisley-print-dress/

Cos always has great Winter dresses, very unfussy designs usually.

I have this in four different colours and love it.

Thanks Brillo I've just bought that dress!

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/09/2014 10:03

It was an MN recommendation from a couple of years ago, it must be popular as they still stock it.

ARGHtoAHHH · 30/09/2014 10:06

watching with interest.

Love that dress, brillo, however much too short for me - hate my knees on show...

Petal02 · 30/09/2014 10:25

I like the Asos dress too, but far too short for me. Shame.

PicnicGatecrasher · 30/09/2014 10:34

French connection have a couple of jumper dresses, nice knit and a bit longer (but I am short!).

trevortrevorslattery · 30/09/2014 10:39

Ah the benefits of being a shortarse! I wouldn't wear a minidress or a short-short dress but that one should be about knee - length on me Grin

Just opened the link frankie put up, and while not keen on the dress itself, I saw this and quite liked it

hellsbellsmelons · 30/09/2014 11:06

THIS sort of thing?
Or maybe THIS?
proper casual
Anyway - loads of knitwear dresses on the PAGE
ASOS
And again loads of ASOS knitwear dresses HERE

ARGHtoAHHH · 30/09/2014 11:25

some really nice stuff in ASOS, thanks for the link. I do find that buying online before trying on generally a pain in the arse. Nothing ever fits, and then I invariable shove the clothing at the back of the wardrobe and forget about it. Can never be arsed / forget to send it back. Hmm

LS24 · 30/09/2014 11:42

Oh lots of suggestions here...thank you. Trying to find a nice straight one rather than skater or flared though..

Can it be knitted? Esprit always have great knitted dresses

LS24 · 30/09/2014 16:14

Yes don't mind if it is knitted - as long as it is straight style. Thank you.
