Should you increase exfoliation as you get older?

So that serums and skin treatments are more readily absorbed? Or, step down and be more gentle on your ageing visage?

Anyone know?

I don't know for sure but my opinion is that you need to keep your skin well exfoliated to encourage skin renewal. My beauty therapist certainly recommends it Smile

I think a gentle exfoliation is helpful but I'm not sure that it needs to be extra intense when you're older. If you do want intense then you may like to try a microdermabrasion treatment once in a while - it's not hard on the skin.

Do you mean increase the frequency or increase the level of scrubbiness? I stepped mine up from occasional to 2 or 3 times a week, but I use an extremely gentle scrub, works for my skin.

I mean more frequently rather than scrubbing away and dragging of skin. Lord knows, it's all feeling a bit saggy anyway!

Any recommendations on a very gentle (more regular use) product I could step up to 3 or so, times weekly? I'm using the No7 one at the moment. I use a weeny bit mixed with my oil cleanser. I just notice that my serum goes on and sinks in better and my skin looks a wee bit clearer/smoother. I have pretty good skin anyway....just deathly pale! #Nosferatou Grin

I use Angels on Bare Skin by Lush, it is made of ground almonds and essential oils. In winter they have a limited edition scrub called Buche de Noel which is even gentler, my skin is quite sensitive and these are perfect for it.

What about acid toning?

Exfoliate more often but less harshly - no scrubby grain type things.

Liquid Gold is good swiped on every other night (make sure you're using a good SPF in the day)

I like the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel too, you just put it on like a mask, dead easy.
