November wedding - which dress and accessories?

Attending a wedding in early November and I'm going to be away a lot with work between now and then so trying to get organised and get an outfit sorted now.

The dresses I've tried on and liked best so far are this

www.phase-eight.com/fcp/product/phase-eight/dresses/suzy-lace-dress/202667194

and this

www.phase-eight.com/fcp/product/phase-eight/dresses/carmen-tapework-dress/202703254

Prefer the length, the fact it has sleeves and price Smile of the first but not sure if it's dressy enough, really like the colour and fit of the second but not sure if it's a bit too evening.

No idea about shoes and tights for either, would prefer to wear something like this www.clarks.co.uk/p/20355670 so I can wear socks so think that's more likely to work with the first dress but I'm generally clueless about these things. All opinons welcome.

Wedding is traditional sort of affair, but all in one location so no going from church to reception.

The first one (burgady) accseorize with silver.

Gaia81 · 28/09/2014 07:41

What colour tights, with that one?

I love that red dress, so elegant. The red one, with nude hose and shoe colour could be nude, silver, black? I'd wear silver jewelry. Red clutch.

Gaia81 · 28/09/2014 08:02

I do really like the red dress but think I might feel overdressed in it in the daytime

I guess it depends on what others are wearing. The other one probably is safer if you feel unsure. It is a nice dress also.

musicalendorphins2 · 28/09/2014 09:26

Just realized I didn't put red shoes on that list! There was a nice pair on that page with the dress.

You could wear burgundy shoes with the burgundy dress. Or maybe black hose and black shoes.

You could try the black boots with socks first since you like that idea, then decide if you like it when you see it on?

Gaia81 · 28/09/2014 09:30

Most other weddings I've attended have been amongst my female friends and summer time so easier to gauge what others will be wearing.

This is one where we're friends of the groom, the only other female I personally know attending is the bride and it's in November so it's harder to get a feel for what is suitable.

Is the wedding a completely indoors affair? Both of those dresses will be chilly if you are going from a church to a hall etc etc, and both could be tricky to accessorise with something warm

Bunbaker · 28/09/2014 09:55

Yes, I was thinking that as well Families

My first priority would be what coat I would be wearing. I hate being cold.

Gaia81 · 28/09/2014 09:56

Yes, it's all in one venue, completely indoors.

Tights. I'd probably go for flesh colored of get a spray tan.

Twinklestein · 28/09/2014 10:01

How about these from Phase 8.

Def not the Clarks boots.

Twinklestar2 · 28/09/2014 10:02

Id wear the red dress with nude heels. No tights! Would risk the cold! That red dress is gorgeous.

Gaia81 · 28/09/2014 10:02

I hate being cold too, which is why I'm veering towards the first, as it's knitted so a bit warmer anyway and if I can wear something like the boots I linked to and have warm feet it'll make a big difference to how warm I feel overall.

Twinklestein · 28/09/2014 10:06

It's chavvy not to wear tights in November.

Gaia81 · 28/09/2014 10:06

I don't do peep toe shoes.

I'll be absolutely miserable if I'm cold (or sat in a nice dress with a fleece over the top Grin, so not really a risk I want to take. If the option is between suffering and looking a mess I'll take the looking a mess option!

I'm just trying to find a no suffering and looking nice option.

Strappy

Broguey

Plain

Gaia81 · 28/09/2014 10:34

I like the middle sort of style best. I don't think the colour is quite right for the dress although it's hard to tell from photos online.

I can't generally wear anything with an ankle strap as I have very skinny ankles and they don't normally do up tight enough.

Twinklestein · 28/09/2014 10:39

I don't know that brogues would look right with lace tbh...

Gaia81 · 28/09/2014 10:39

Just realised I linked to the wrong shoes in my op, should have been these, if it makes a difference

It's not really what I would call lace, it's more like crochet.

Been shoe shopping today and failed miserably Sad
