Can tops be longer than your cardigan/jacket?

I love skinny jeans, but need to wear them with a top that covers my bum. That's non negotiable. But now it's getting cooler, I'm finding I need to wear a cardigan or jacket, and that my tops/tunics are quite a bit longer in length than any cardigans or jackets I own. I do see quite a few girls walking around with a long top and short jacket, but is that how you're "supposed" to do it, or not?

I've seen some particularly nice longer tops in Wallis, and am now wondering if I need to find an equally long jacket or blazer?

I think the fashion now is for layering, which includes having the top longer than what you're wearing over it. So you'll be ok.

Absolutely - it's all the rage right now.
Layering is good!

I do this all the time. I have a bra aversion (and don't really need one!) so tend to wear H&M spaghetti strap vests most days. These come down over my hips, and often show under my sweatshirt or jumper. Then I'll put a jacket on top.

Each outfit needs to be looked at individually mind, not all my jackets work over every under layer. The proportions and cut of each layer need to work.

Also if you can stretch to them or wait for a code, the Baukjen long length long sleeve tops are fab for layering and super long, you can ruche them to suit, and cover all the skinny jean problem areas you need covering!

Its not how you we're supposed to do it 30 years ago. Things change. Layer away.

Thank you - layering has commenced! :)

Yes even my DH who is NOT into fashion(though has pretty good taste) knows this is fine now.

PS - I've just checked out Baukjen, very nice indeed (a bit pricey though).

They are a lot full price, especially just for wearing under other tops, but they have codes all the time, wait for a 30% one...my ones will be entering their third winter shortly..
