I have an interview next week - it's my first after redundancy so really nervous. I've lost a lot of weight this year so none of my work clothes fit so I need something new...

I went shopping today and found nada - well I found this skirt m.marksandspencer.com/mt/www.marksandspencer.com/striped-jacquard-a-line-skirt/p/p22322777?jsrl=stop&un_jtt_redirect but not 100% about it.

am thinking patterned skirt, smart top and a jacket/ blazer. basically something smart that isn't a suit but also a little unusual, with a bit of personality (but not too much!)

any suggestions wise s&bers??

I'm size 18, big boobs, big bum. I can get to central London if needs be.

thanks

Shameless bump!

Someone must have some good ideas , I can't go to an interview just in tights. Grin

I've looked at cos, toast, m&s, gap, hobbs, even next and found nothing!

I would wear a stretchy dress with ? sleeves. That way it's all done for £40-80. Nice stuff in Wallis or Debenhams or Markies.

RJnomore · 25/09/2014 21:18

Just tights might make an impression!

Have you tried monsoon

Although if you gave us a clue what the interview is for, I would be able to suggest more perhaps?

tethersend · 25/09/2014 21:28

Yy, what sort of role is it?

hettie · 25/09/2014 21:36

what kinf of working environment is it?

LadyMud · 25/09/2014 21:49

Sorry, your link doesn't work for me - is it this one?

You4coffee · 25/09/2014 21:54

I don't want to say the exact role just in case one of you is on the panel!

But it's in central London, working with some "cool" businesses. Its very definitely the smart end of business casual but a suit won't cut it and isn't really my style. it's a mid management level role.

I usually go for a full (isn) patterned skirt, with jacket with nipped in waist, so probably looking for a variation on that?

m&s website is so crappy but yes that's the one!

What's your budget?

tethersend · 25/09/2014 22:25

I don't like that M&S skirt at all.

7Days · 25/09/2014 22:29

I second the advice to look for a wrap type dress with sleeves. Nice pattern on it, heels and earrings maybe to echo one of the colours in the dress. I id that last week with a blazer type jacket, smart but not suit shape. (Got the job, too!)

travailtotravel · 25/09/2014 22:37

Wrap dress or pencil skirt and blouse or top.

traviata · 25/09/2014 22:39

dress and jacket?

polyhymnia · 25/09/2014 22:49

I'd Aldo think a good dress the best bet. Hobbs, L K Bennett, Jaeger should be good sources . Sorry, I really don't like that skirt at all. Don't think I'd want to go for an interview in M and S tbh - except for underwear and tights.

tethersend · 25/09/2014 23:19

dress and jacket

You4coffee · 26/09/2014 22:45

Thank you everyone for responding and for your ideas.

trav sorry really really don't like that dress - its wrong shape for me and bit too glitzy.

tethersend also don't like the asos dress. I've found asos a bit hit and miss in terms of quality and don't have time to send back if not right. Jacket looks poss but would prefer in navy I think.

poly I tend to agree re m&s but I'm getting bit desperate.

Am off to look at lk Bennett etc

Will report back! Thanks again everyone.

Linked to asos as don't know what kind of budget you have- how much do you want to spend?

You4coffee · 27/09/2014 10:32

I could spend around £100 pounds- maybe bit more. I've found a couple of skirts from white stuff... you'll all probably hate them Grin

Grin you're right... Particularly the second one

Are you dead set on the patterned-skirt-plain-top-and-jacket combo?

PrimalLass · 27/09/2014 11:01

The skirts are too wacky I think. Try dresses from Baukjen maybe?

tethersend · 27/09/2014 11:08

dress 1

tethersend · 27/09/2014 11:12

dress 2 -over budget, but wouldn't need a jacket.

tethersend · 27/09/2014 11:14

dress 3 -great with a navy jacket.

tethersend · 27/09/2014 11:18

dress 4
