Office dresses about £20 that look good with black tights

Ladies, I haven't shopped for years since I wore jeans nonstop while home with my toddler, and I went back to work last month. I love the shape of Phase Eight and Hobbs dresses, but those are £££ for wearing every day and that means I only have about 3 dresses that they're all sick of seeing me wearing a month in. I need your help!

I'm a biggish 14, apple shape and large boobs. Where do I look? I'm in my 30s. I bought one of the Krisp dresses that was linked on Chat over the summer but they are a little too short on me.

I buy loads of dresses from boohoo. Their sizes are pretty accurate I find.

I would book a complimentary personal stylist session at John Lewis or Debenhams. You dont have to buy what they suggest but rather use their ideas for a main shopping trip. They will give you ideas on what styles and colurs that suit you.

I buy a lot of my work dresses from Dorothy Perkins as they have a fast turn over of styles and are quite inexpensive.

I got a tranche of dresses from Boden clearance when I went back 2 years ago, I'm still wearing them now, worth a look in this year's clearance as there are recent reductions (from about £17). A friend swears by Peacocks, me \i like my reductions esp tk maxx.

TK Maxx. Lots of wrap and jersey dresses priced around £25-30. You might need to pop in regularly to find the style and size you want.

ThisBitchIsResting · 22/09/2014 22:43

Check EBay for the brands you like. I got a whole new work wardrobe when I returned to work after my last mat leave, all Hobbs, LK Bennett and Laura Ashley dresses but for £15-£30 each.

Or yes Dorothy Perkins has some really good work dresses, some horrors but some gems, always worth a look and there's 20-30% off a lot of the new season stuff this week too.

Thanks all, some good suggestions! I work FT and DH hates it when I take time out of family time on evenings and weekends, so I don't get much chance to shop. Online is best for me..

In fact I have just bought 3 dresses from TK Maxx. 2 wrap dresses and a knitted one which looked lovely and cosy!

What did you order Vroom (I'm noisy). I've taken my own advice and am going to do the same.

cromwell44 · 22/09/2014 23:28

Nosey, not noisy! Although...

Dorothy Perkins is good online - better than the shops which can be a bit hit and miss I think. There's usually codes and free returns as well.

Great Plains do amazing sales - you can sometimes get dresses for £11-£15. I'm the same size as you and an L in Great Plains.

Phase Eight sales aren't always that great - usually £20 off an £80 dress - but they have the occasional bargain.

Sorry cromwell, been out all day! I'll link them when I get home..

I got these:

www.tkmaxx.com/dresses/blue-floral-knee-length-wrap-dress/invt/30080559

www.tkmaxx.com/day-dresses/dark-green-ribbed-dress/invt/30070878

and www.tkmaxx.com/day-dresses/dark-grey-sheath-dress/invt/30088417

I can't wear black any more, but these ought to do nicely for now!

They all look lovely and variety of colours and styles. I have the floral wrap one on my basket plus wavering on another couple. Dresses are so easy for work aren't they? Just add tights and boots in the winter.
