I got fat and all my jeans ripped. Help me!

Okay, so I got a bit overweight recently and have suffered my first summer of 'chub rub'. It was uncomfortable, sweaty etc so I was understandably looking forward to wearing jeans again.

Now I have a new problem. My jeans still just about fit but chub rub thighs have caused rubbing on the inside of the jeans. Almost every pair now has either discolouration, holes or is wearing away.

What am I supposed to do?!? Does anybody else have this problem? Losing weight is a no go, I like food too much. All my jeans are from different shops. Help meeeeeeeee!

Buy new ones..? It's happened to me this year too. I usually rotate my clothes enough that I've never noticed it, but being at home with a baby/toddler I lived in my jeans and they shredded around the inside thigh.

My husband has large thighs and a small waist and no matter what jeans or trousers he wears, it happens every time... It is expensive! I kind of accept that is just the hazard of having larger thighs now.

Well there are only 2 options - losing weight or buying bigger jeans Grin
Id forgotten about this but it happened to me until I lost weight. Jeans are lasting years now.

OldCatLady · 22/09/2014 22:12

Oh, how upsetting :(

I'm just destined to buy ridiculous amounts of jeans then? I wear them for work too so they get worn a lot. Damn my chubby thighs!

Yup, having been there and split many a pair of jeans between the thigh, either loose weight or buy more, sorry.

PeppermintInfusion · 23/09/2014 11:24

It isn't as bad with heavier denim, though I go through a pair of jeggings material type skinnies very 4-5 months as the stretchy material isn't as substantial.

I'm pregnant and chubbier of thigh at the min due to less exercise, but it happens even when I was substantially thinner so think it's to do with how you walk etc as well.

Threesoundslikealot · 23/09/2014 19:17

Many, many pairs of trousers of mine have died this way. Weightloss is the only cure.

TheCowThatLaughs · 23/09/2014 19:19

Stop walking? Or if not, you'll just have to lose weight. Sorry, I feel your pain though!

Flowersandvegatables · 23/09/2014 19:45

It's boring, but exercise is the answer. Then you don't have to give nice food the heave-ho or anything. Try Mumsnet/talk/exercise, could take 2st off the problem?

I lost six stone and my thighs still rub together, its as much to do with shape as it is with size.

TooSpotty · 24/09/2014 09:16

But the OP says it's only been happening to her since she put on weight, so in her case presumably losing some would make a difference.

missnevermind · 24/09/2014 13:17

Lol. Not what you are asking. But I take the back pockets off my jeans and use the material to patch the inner thighs and strengthen the material. Grin

coffeenut · 24/09/2014 13:38

I have chunky thighs but this has never happened to me - interesting! I generally go for thicker, less stretchy denims though to hold my thighs in though. Look for a high cotton content maybe?
