Hello

would you buy lace up shoes for 18 month old boy? Where are the best places to buy shoes for toddlers this age who have only been walking for 4 months.

thank you

no, you'll be retying them every 30 seconds.

What's wrong with Clarks?

Mud · 25/09/2006 19:07

god no
velcro

WigWamBam · 25/09/2006 19:08

Velcro.

Clarks and Startrite are both fine.

trinityrhino · 25/09/2006 19:08

nearly did but then decided against it as I knew she would just iuntie them ALL the time

TheBlonde · 25/09/2006 19:08

No, not lace ups
Velcro here

Katymac · 25/09/2006 19:08

Don't see why not

At 18m you will be putting them on and fastening them anyway - so do a double knot

Clarkes, Startrite

Flossam · 25/09/2006 19:15

Lace them up good and tight - less lost shoes - velco is easily figured out by a bored toddler in a buggy = lost shoes.

nappy changes

lummox · 25/09/2006 19:19

have to have buckle shoes here (ds is 15 months) as velcro is immediately removed. couldn't even contemplate laces.

startrite seems the only place that has any range of buckle shoes at all.

A few places (Clarkes included) do an elastic "lace" with a slide along toggle to tighten it. Had some for DS when he was about 18m and I thought they were great as they're easy to tighten and loosen appropriately, don't come undone like laces and can't be pulled undone (by toddler) like velcro.

we had lace ups for one of ours after the other one took off his velcro shoes and threw them out of his pushchair one day....

no problem with nappy changes as untill recently I would just leave shoes on and pull trouser round ankles - lazy mother alert!!
