I need some help finding a dress for a Christmas black tie event. I have no boobs, size 8 and hate my upper arms!

Under £100 would be great. I love shoe shopping so I'm ok there but I need some thing that is lovely no, stunning but without being too look at me because I'm tall and a bit self conscious.

Are you thinking long or short?

Colour?

Eastpoint · 18/09/2014 21:32

So you're tall, slim with a model shaped body (apart from your upper arms). How old are you & is it a work or social event? All Saints outlet stores might have something good for you.

Eastpoint · 18/09/2014 21:35

How formal do you want to go? Top Shop this is within your budget if it is a blacktie cocktail party, hides your upper arms & doesn't have a cleavage.

CurlyWurlyCake · 18/09/2014 21:39

No model shaped body here, I'm more gangly, I'm not confident in my body, I'd love more shape some boobs

I think long would be better, I don't wear my legs bare because I have scars but will wear tights when I wear dresses for work

It's a work event, first time I've been in the position to be invited, going alone and I'm late 30s.

I think I'm a bit too old for top shop and I'm wondering if I should just cover my arms with a wrap?

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyCake · 18/09/2014 21:58

horrace I love that one apart from the detail around the breast area! it's not going to suit me! but thank you.

families thank you for your help, I'm going to sound odd but I couldn't not wear a bra out and no netting.

Without outing myself it is a work event but my first one in a more senior position and I would like to feel confident.

I'm so hard to please! And appreciate your help
Keep them coming!

Don't wear a wrap. Long dresses with sleeves look much better.

something like this would work well.

Myfanwyprice · 18/09/2014 22:03

Have a look at the pretty dress company, they have got some gorgeous dresses and are mostly around your budget.

RonaldMcDonald · 18/09/2014 22:06

flapper dresses are your friend
do you like that style?

FamiliesShareGerms · 18/09/2014 22:06

Sleeves

RonaldMcDonald · 18/09/2014 22:16

coast cobalt

bonzo77 · 18/09/2014 22:16

Do you think you could wear a tux? One styled for a woman? With nothing underneath, just a bra and some tit tape to prevent any wardrobe malfunction. Or even no bra if you feel comfortable.

RonaldMcDonald · 18/09/2014 22:20

this will make you look more boobie

I like this paint splattered

RonaldMcDonald · 18/09/2014 22:23

I really think you should wear this though
I am no longer an 8 but if I was I'd be wearing this on the school run

CurlyWurlyCake · 18/09/2014 22:26

I would LOVE god wear a tux but I don't know how well it woul be received iykwim

Directors are all male, one other female senior and then they will all possible have partners with them.

Coast is my go to for work dresses.

I'm upping the budget to £200 Smile

Thank you all again, I've enjoyed looking at all the different links.

teenyest bit over budget and not a dress

DorrieNoGoblin · 18/09/2014 22:30

x post!

CurlyWurlyCake · 18/09/2014 22:30

Ronald your last link is fab very daring but I love the idea of cycle shorts I was thinking cocktail dress etc but the sparkles and low back...

Is a black tie event more long an elegant or can I just do sparkle dress and hair up?

OP posts:
tethersend · 18/09/2014 22:33

How about something vintage?

tethersend · 18/09/2014 22:34

Oh, just seen newly-upped budget Grin

DorrieNoGoblin · 18/09/2014 22:35

Both full length and cocktail length are fine for black tie.

Grin at new budget, indeed. Still love the TB jumsuit though.

CurlyWurlyCake · 18/09/2014 22:38

tether I love vintage but that link is all about the boobs again and I have no boobs blasted children

I've only used tit tape once and ripped my skin off when I tried to remove it once home and pissed slightly tipsy Blush
