Any opinions on these Ghost dresses for a wedding dress? For a tall, slim (size 8) 34 year old.

I am looking for something inexpensive but classy and slinky.

I particularly like the Diana dress with sleeves (winter wedding) any thoughts?

Be careful with Ghost stuff, it's cut on the bias and so can be very flattering but watch out for VPL!

TiaDalma · 15/09/2014 22:24

It's beautiful

Love the giselle too, I would have loved something like that for my own wedding, but then I realised I am neither tall or slim, which you need to be! (And you are Smile )

snowgirl1 · 15/09/2014 23:09

Wow, they're lovely. Much nicer than I was expecting when you said Ghost. That's exactly the sort of thing I wanted when I got married - but couldn't find it, gah!

StepDoor · 15/09/2014 23:13

You do need to be quite tall for them. Other than that, lovely Smile

DorisIsALittleBitPartial · 15/09/2014 23:13

They're all beautiful. If you love the dress then get it, you'll look gorgeous with your size 8 figure, very flattering. I wore a Coast dress but was a size 14 so it didn't look quite as good on me as it did in the picture Hmm Grin

My best friend wore a red Ghost frock for her wedding about 12 years ago - looked fab - couldn't wear any knickers under it though.

Peanutbutterandnutellanutter · 16/09/2014 09:07

Thanks all!
Yes either no knickers Shock or will try out some massive flesh coloured ones Blush Spanx pants or whatever you call them! Dress is pretty unforgiving but thankfully I am quite slim and have time to tone up my slightly wobbly bum before the wedding (or just wear the big pants)

I wore a smilar dress to my wedding 14 years ago . I was very slim then and had small norks /bony shoulders , which looked terrible in the compulsory strapless wedding dress worn with fake tan .

Also I wanted sleeves as I had skinny arms and it was a winter wedding

I was going to get a white faux fur stole or cape lined with dark red satin, but changed my mind. This was a mistake as I was freezing . And it would have looked lovely .

My small flower girls wore ivory dress with red satin band, red velvet coat and white fur muff. She was adorable . And warm Grin

As my dress was very simple and I had no veil , I had a very dramatic bouquet with grasses and dark red lilies.

KristinaM · 16/09/2014 09:12

YY to big skin tone pants

And no to the compulsory wedding basque /other underwear of torture

CarolBornAMan · 16/09/2014 09:41

I wore a red ghost dress for my wedding - loved it so flattering but I did need a lot of tape due to not being able to wear underwear!!

BringMeTea · 16/09/2014 15:51

I wore the Giselle in nude only this year! Wore a marabou cape as May and bit chilly. I like to think it was very Bette Davis. Grin. As people have said very unforgiving. I wore a frankly hideous nude thing from. John. Lewis that you tuck just under your bra and it comes down to mid thigh and avoids any vpl issues.

I think the Ghost dresses are pretty slinky yet stylish. Go for it OP and have a lovely wedding.

leedy · 16/09/2014 16:23

Gorgeous dresses, go for it!

My sister wore a similar (vintage) bias cut dress for her wedding and had to wear pants she could only describe as "surgical-looking".

sweetkitty · 16/09/2014 16:33

You must have the same taste as me as I've been looking for wedding dresses as well and live this one too Grin

The only thing is I'm a size 8 but am only 5ft 4inches and am hippy, I think it might look daft on me and is best suited to a tally willowy figure.

Amethyst24 · 16/09/2014 18:08

I find these very good under that sort of dress www.figleaves.com/uk/product/SI-27728/Sloggi-Light-shorty/?size=&colour=Black (not in black, obvs)

I'm only having a registry office do with 2 witnesses (we've been together 20 years and 4 DC), it'll be in March so thinking ivory fake fur coat?

KristinaM · 17/09/2014 16:08

Sweet kitty -do tell us why you finally decided to get married ? Only if it's a romantic story though......

sweetkitty · 21/09/2014 17:32

It's the 20 year anniversary of our first date Smile and it's about bloody time lol

KristinaM · 22/09/2014 10:38

Awwwwww < sobs into hankie >

I hope you have a wonderful day Smile

MsRinky · 22/09/2014 17:52

I always dreamed of wearing a Ghost dress for my wedding. Sadly as I am short and round it was not to be.

They are beautiful, have a wonderful wedding!

StatelyAsAGalleon · 22/09/2014 18:10

Virtually a year ago to the day, I wore a beautiful Ghost dress for my wedding. I loved it and am constantly looking for opportunities to re-wear it. Love it. I wore a "nude" corselette (Fig Leaves) underneath it and a cute sequinned shrug. As others have said, they can be a little bit see-through, so good foundation wear is essential.

sweetkitty · 22/09/2014 21:02

I think the shorter Lucy dress might suit me better as I'm short and round, although I'm only a size 8 I've got big not in proportion hips and I suit more fit and flare type dresses, shame as I love the long Ghost dresses.
