I need a new hairdryer - parleux or GHD? Recommendations, please!

I am going to order a new hairdryer this weekend. I have long, very thick hair, which I blow dry everyday. If you were me, would you order a GHD one, or a Parleux, or something else?

I have thick curly/frizzy hair & I have the ghd hair dryer.
I can't fault it. I can blow dry my hair straight & don't need to go over it with the ghd's unless if I'm going out somewhere then I will, the hair dryer is fab though :)

I have used the GHD air and really rated it but I would go for Parlux. For 2 reasons;

  1. because they are that bit cheaper ok (top of the range Parlux is £90), top of the range GHD dryer is about £150,I think (the air is £100?)

  2. Parlux have a long, proven history of longevity (lots of reports of 10,15 yr old Parluxes in daily use) whereas the GHD dryer is still quite a new (compared to the parlux) and I'm not sure about the long term durability. A lifespan of 3-4 yrs wouldn't necessarily bother me ordinarily but there is much talk of the EU going for high powered hair dryers next in their banning spree so I would want my powerful dryer to last as long as possible!

Thank you both. I have long had my eye on a GHD one as I have the straighteners, but I know that Parleux ones are so highly rated. I will keep thinking!

Parlux. Look on line for good deals,I got mine for 55 quid. I wouldn't bother with ionic what nots, completely unnecessary.

Thank you! I'm more swaying towards a Parleux now!

I have an ETI and it's amazing. Came across them in the hair salon I go to and my hairdresser swears by them - she can't use anything else.

Thank you, I will be ordering in the morning. Still not sure which though!

I love my parlux too, it's my 3rd in about 12 years? I have long hair that I blow dry straight and rarely use straighteners. I think mine was about 80 euro?

FabulousFudge · 13/09/2014 23:03

Oh thanks - another Parleux vote! I'm so confused.

I didn't mean that to be ungrateful, I genuinely meant thank you for your comment. Sorry if it doesn't read that way!

Out of interest which parlour model do you all have. I have the GHD air, had it less than a year and there is already a burn smell so may be on the way out. Use it daily but expect it to last longer for the £, has 2 year warranty though.

FabulousFudge · 14/09/2014 08:49

I'm swaying towards the 3800...

I have the 385 light ionic one. It dries my hair very quickly without turning it into a wrecked, singed, frizzball nightmare.

FabulousFudge · 14/09/2014 15:56

Just ordered a Parleux 3800! Thanks everyone!
