Advertising photographs not showing true colours

Has anybody else noticed advertisement photographs are not showing the true colour of the fabric.
I am looking at you M&S - stunning blue coat being advertised in the newspaper/ in store but the coat in real life is a DULL pale blue, nothing as nice as the one in the photo.
Primark the same- a beautiful pale pink coat photographed. In real life it is like a pink coat that has been left in a dusty stockroom and has a tinge of grey on it.
Such a shame.
2 items I had thought I'd buy but won't now after seeing them in real life.Hmm

This has happened with asos a couple of times eg a pale pink sweatshirt (viewed on various monitors) turned out to be pale orangey peach. The samples were obviously a different/nicer colour. Such a pity about the blue M+S coat. I was going to seek that out.

It happened with M& S last year too. It's not rocket science to photograph the correct colour and unlike food styling ( to an extent) the colour of fabric REALLY matters.

I have that blue M and S coat. The colour is gorgeous. Dusty powder blue mmmmm

hollyisalovelyname · 14/09/2014 10:14

Yes it is dusty powder blue. But in the ad in magazines it's like a cornflower blue ( not quite as deep) and not as it is in real life.
Surely photographers who are paid mega pounds for their work should be able to get the colour as clise to reality as possible.
It's false advertising otherwise Smile

i ordered some 'blue' boots that turned out to be very very dark and completely a different colour from the website. The site wanted to charge for returns but i contacted them and even they agreed that the colour was different.

funny how no-one spotted it when it went online, wasn't a massive retailer.
