Find me a gorgeous outfit for my anniversary dinner

DH and I are celebrating our anniversary next week and going to Claridges for dinner. Unusually I am meeting him there so it feels like a date - most unusual for us.

I'd like to look amazing as I walk through the door - when actually I feel like a lump of lard! Can anyone point me towards something nice to buy in the next few days.

I'm 5'7", size 14 - or 16 on a bad day (seem to have more of those these days). I'm brunette and suit dark or bright colours rather than lighter colours. Wrap dresses seem to be quite flattering but happy to look at something else, as long as my arms aren't too much on show.

Any tips?

How much do you want to spend?

hellsbellsmelons · 11/09/2014 13:39

Something like THIS is gorgeous.
What budget have you got?

Empire line maxi dress might work.

WalkingThePlank · 11/09/2014 13:44

I'd prefer to pay less than £150.

Definitely not full length and empire line makes me look pregnant unfortunately Blush

this

Or this I am about the same size as you and have this in three colours as I love it :)

Or this

Amandaclarke · 11/09/2014 13:59

Oooh this is rather nice and covers arms

tethersend · 11/09/2014 14:05

How do you feel about leopard print?

WalkingThePlank · 11/09/2014 14:05

I like the Phase Eight Suri dress best but I fear it might make me look matronly. My bust seems to look best in a v shape.

Ooh the Coast dresses are nice too.

If you are thinking about the Emmy they are not stocking them in store anywhere - you will need to order online. I nearly bought it for a wedding this weekend and it is truly lovely, I have a bust so generally prefer a V, also have a tummy and the ruffling over the front really covers it well. Only problem with me is Coast comes up a bit on the small side in opinion and I just couldn't get the sizing right on this occasion.

WalkingThePlank · 12/09/2014 22:28

I bought THIS today.

Dare I say that I think it suits my colouring/shape more than the model. Blush

Can't see what it is. Just a home page.

MissMillament · 13/09/2014 11:02

It is lovely. Though I am a bit Smile that they are urging me to 'complete the look' with a pair of black leather loafers.

WalkingThePlank · 13/09/2014 13:01

Sorry Hellsbells - its the Cobalt blue Lolita dress.
