Apparently I will never get to a hairdresser again

This is due to the tiny minion ruling the household (single parent). Today I had to cancel my third attempt at a haircut, as little one was still inconsolable at nursery after an hour.

So, taking a deep breath and accepting the new reality: what can I do at home about my roots??? Naturally light brown hair, that used to be highlighted three lovely shades of mid blonde. It's been a long time since I home-coloured, and I'm a bit nervous - although it really cannot look a lot worse than it does right now (I may regret that statement later).

Any recommendations for decent products, simple and moderately quick, unlikely to turn me orange or burn off my skin? Behold, my dizzyingly high standards...

I would avoid doing your own highlights. Could you put a status out on one of the local Facebook sites asking for a mobile hairdresser that could do your hair when LO is in bed?

Doobledootch · 10/09/2014 19:55

Could you find a hairdresser who does home appointments?

Amandaclarke · 10/09/2014 19:57

Could you get someone to come to the house?

I have been down the home dye route and I won't go there again...

home highlights kits are okay ime but easier with a friend to help.

Yes, mobile hairdresser is the way forward here...

I was also going to suggest local Facebook sites. We are constantly getting recommendations of hairdressers that visit the home on our local village and town FB pages.

Hadn't considered an evening home appointment (had for some reason only thought about daytime) - will definitely try and look for that, thanks!

Definitely do a mobile hairdresser. Ask on Facebook if your friends can recommend anyone.
